Walking is great for health, but the popular goal of 10,000 steps a day doesn’t tell the whole story. Research increasingly shows that healthy aging depends on a wider range of movement skills. Baxter sheds light on the body’s movement system and his original Yoga for Healthy Aging Four Movement Skills, sharing yoga practices that support strength, balance, and long-term vitality.

Once a month on Friday evening we dim the lights and unwind with restorative yoga taught by Ann Dyer Cervantes, followed by an immersive sound bath performed by a different Bay Area guest musician each month — this Friday, the Gong Woman herself, Karen Stackpole.

A virtuoso/Percussionist Karen is renowned for her powerful and hypnotic gong performances — gorgeous, drony, and transcendental. Using innovative techniques Karen creates shimmering fields of sound that will have you unsure of where the sound ends and you begin.

t’s been almost a month since I took a break from teaching — excited to be getting back to class this Sunday!
It’s been an eye-opening few weeks (n more ways than one!) I’ve had the time and energy for more open-ended personal practice — and it’s been fascinating.
You might wonder how many “aha” moments there can still be after 50+ years of yoga. The truth is, they never stop coming, if we can slow down enough to notice them. And this little break gave me more opportunities for that.
There’s a lot of power — and a lot of insight — waiting for us when we can take the time to connect to the support that already exists.
