Wasn't planning on vlogging but had the gopro in the car so i thought let's get some IG clips. These aren't exactly a vlog so they'll be under the "BONUS" video album. Here's just some runs I got on camera learning the flow. Decided to ride my gravel bike because I was just in the mood for a little silliness. The sillies escalated pretty quickly once we found the flow and I found myself somehow trying to throw down some shapes! Been a minute since I’ve ridden this bike on anything more than down the street to the brewery 😅. Once I got it though it was as meditational as it was on my dirt jumper. Oh and that one send to flat, yea I just held the shoulders and kept it rear loaded. As Ian Massey would say, break the bar... Real glad the bike didn't break on that one. That could have easily been a headtube or carbon fork snapper 🫣

Two years ago I started a series called Local Legends filming a bunch of well, local legends with the intention of learning how to shoot and edit. This little project started off with nothing but a Hero7 that I was borrowing from Paulo the Spice Chopper and an old laptop that Jeremy Coyle gave me. Definitely had fun playing around. Fast forward to today, yea I'm working with slightly better gear especially with a much nicer laptop that Chris Johnson hooked me up with but more importantly, I've learned a lot more on how to actually shoot and edit. Admittedly, the project had definitely hit a bit of a pause as there had been quite a bit of scheduling conflicts and just life events in general. That said, I'm glad to say the series is coming back and kick starting this come back is Marek Auchterlonie whom I actually met last summer when I was visiting Northern Virginia. We reconnected recently when I started hanging out at the skatepark trying to learn new skills and experience this new kind of riding in which I've never done before. Dude is chill af and absolute shredder! Yea one of these days I hope to be half as cool 🤙

Definitely been a while since I've filmed one of these. Time to get it going again and first legend with this reboot is a shredder I actually met last summer...

Haven't been out here in a while as it's been wet but it's finally dry enough to ride so time to dust off those pumptrack skills. I'm a little rusty seeing as it's been a while let alone trying to pull moves on this bike but oh it's just so much fun. Gotta love the process of shedding and slowly getting back to form. I cannot express enough how much this place does for my mental health. Also, any bike is a DJ bike if you believe so send what you got! 🤟🤪

Miss the dropbar sillies with my gravel/adventure bike crew! Think it may be time to bring back those adventure rides again? Oh and yea this was first time riding that Tomac style bike on what I can only describe as a mountain bikers version of a gravel ride? Dude’s a beast and will shred anything! 😂

To say I spend a lot of time at the Oakland Pump Track would be an understatement. It's 5 minutes from my place and is essentially my backyard! It's just super convenient to head out there and get my workout in or practice technique. I've definitely learned quite a few more things since my last pump track post so figured why not film another little self shot edit. Yea, this is another one of those one man one camera kind of operations.

That said, the pumptrack is just super efficient being able to work on stuff in a nice safe controlled environment. Track doesn't change and that's one less variable to think about. All we have to worry about is ourselves. Decide on a thing to work on and be consciously making that decision every time you're on the track. It could be working on the timing of the pumps, manualing or even something as simple as breathing. Eventually it all becomes reflex. Once that happens, slowly up the frequency to work on the reaction time and see how fast we can make those reflexes fire. See if we can make those same decisions at a faster rate.

Just like in music, I'm a true believer in the distinction between practicing and playing. Practice takes dedicated attention to be consciously working on a specific thing. It's important as it actually betters oneself and add more tricks into the bag so that when you're actually riding, things are already second nature and you can actually enjoy the ride even more as you're not in survival mode just holding on for dear life. The better we get, the easier it is to find that flow.

Got my inner on and rode the Panty Line. This was unlike anything I’ve ever ridden before. Reminded me of what it was like riding my gravel bike down DH trails only I was on a real capable mtb. Really love the style out here. Just raw and natty!

It’s real green out here in the east coast. Too bad the smoke from the west has followed us here so I’m going to be stuck indoors for a while. Good thing I take lots of pictures to tide me over to the next ride!
