Save this one for the next time you made plans and now you’re sitting there like…why the f**k did I agree to this?

Before you automatically cancel OR start forcing yourself to go, ask:

1. What do I need/want right now?
2. What do I usually do in this situation?
3. Given BOTH, what’s one step I can take?

Maybe you go for an hour.

Maybe you show up tired instead of waiting until you magically feel social.

Maybe you change the plan.

Maybe you stay your ass home and reschedule. 😂

The point isn’t to always make yourself go.

It’s to have more options than whatever you automatically do when that “ugh, I don’t wanna go” feeling shows up.

If you’re trying to get better at responding to what’s actually happening instead of automatically doing what you always do, follow along. That’s what we practice here.

Same “ugh, I don’t wanna go” feeling. Two totally different decisions.

Sometimes I’m tired, but I’m okay. And I also know myself well enough to know that I tend to stay home.

So maybe I go.

But gurl, I’m bringing my tired ass with me 😂 I can tell my friends I’m tired. I can stay for an hour. I don’t have to suddenly become the life of the party.

Other times? Nah...I’ve been pushing myself all week and I’m f**king tired.

I’m staying home.

But I can still call my friend, make another plan, and stay connected.

I don’t have to split myself.

I can be tired AND want to see my friends.
I can need to stay home AND still care about the connection.

If you’re trying to get better at figuring out what you actually need instead of automatically doing what you always do, follow along. That’s what we get into here.

You made plans. Now the day is here and suddenly it’s:

“I don’t wanna go.”
“But I said I would.”
“But I’m tired.” 😩😂

If you know this spiral, don’t just ask yourself whether you feel like going.

Ask:

1. What do I actually need right now?
2. What do I usually do in this situation?
3. Given both of those things, what’s one step I can take?

Because being tired matters.

And knowing that you almost always choose staying home matters too.

The answer isn’t always “push yourself and go.” And it’s not always “listen to yourself and stay home.”

Sometimes it’s go for an hour. Sometimes it’s stay your ass home. 😂

The point is to have more than one option available to you.

If you’re trying to build more range in how you respond to your life, follow along. That’s what we practice here.

I’d probably still leave that party today. 😂

But I don’t think I’d leave THAT fast.

That’s the part of this story that stays with me.

I felt uncomfortable and immediately went, “nope, I’m out.”

I didn’t give myself any time to see what might happen if I stayed with the discomfort for just a little bit.

So if you’re already IN the uncomfortable thing and your first instinct is to get the hell out…try giving yourself 5 minutes.

You can still leave.

You’re just giving yourself another option besides “this is uncomfortable, so I’m out.”

If you’re trying to build more range in how you respond when things get uncomfortable, follow along. That’s what we practice here.
