The KDA

The KDA The KDA is a Bay Area based organization focused on promoting and supporting quality Kizomba and UrbanKiz artists from the US. The answer is Yes!

Through its dedication to bring talented artists, the KDA is committed to put the SF Bay Kizomba community on the world map. Mission/Goal:
The KDA (Kizomba Dance Alliance) mission is to build an alliance with high quality dance instructors from across North America, who share in the vision to both grow and improve the quality of Urban Kiz and Kizomba dancing on the west coast. By bringing in great

instructors from all over North America, the KDA will help create a community of dancers who are strong in skill, technique, and etiquette to further the Bay Area to be known as one of the best Kizomba dancing scenes in the world. Why:
This dance is our passion and we want to do our part to support our community and the Kizomba dance culture. How:
By offering quality and accessible opportunities to learn and dance that will benefit, not only our current dance community but also future generations of kizomba dancers. When:
The KDA’s aim is to host regular Kizomba events and workshops with both local and North American instructors to maintain a steady growth in Kizomba participants and increasing participant dance level in the Bay Area. Like and Follow our page to stay tuned in to KDA upcoming events! Who:
The KDA is still a seed that is growing. We are actively seeking out teachers who hold a similar vision and have strong skills in both dancing AND teaching. Questions:
Some have asked about the promotion and offering of other dances such as Afro-house and Semba. The KDA will be promoting and offering these as well. Members of the KDA team will ensure all aspects of the Afro-Latin styles and genres are represented. Although the main focus will be on Urban Kiz and Kizomba, the KDA understands the importance to be well rounded and how one dance improves another and is dedicated to respecting the essence of Kizomba culture. We want to thank each of you for your patience and ongoing support as we embark on this journey together for the benefit of our dance community! Credits:

Bring Kizomba to Black Joy Parade!

Since 2016, Kizomba Dance Alliance has been dedicated to building a vibrant community that celebrates the beauty of Kizomba and Semba, Angolan dances that embody connection, culture, and joy. Through our monthly classes, performance team, and global workshops, we’ve not only taught dance but shared the rich history of the African diaspora and its influence on dance worldwide.

Now, we have an incredible opportunity to bring this passion to the Black Joy Parade in Oakland—an event that celebrates the creativity and culture of Black communities. By participating, we can introduce Kizomba and Semba to a wider audience, foster new relationships, and inspire even more people to connect through the power of dance.

Why We Need Your Help
To join the parade and set up a booth to showcase our art, we need to raise $500 to cover the booth fee. This booth will be our platform to:
Offer live demos and mini dance lessons.
Share the history and cultural significance of Kizomba and Semba.
Recruit new members to join our growing community.
Your support will directly help us achieve this goal and create a space where more people can experience the transformative power of African dance.

Why This Matters
Although our community is small, the connections we’ve built through Kizomba Dance Alliance are life-changing and lifelong. Our mission goes beyond dance steps—we aim to preserve and share the stories, traditions, and resilience of the African diaspora through movement.

Over the years, we’ve taught not only in the Bay Area but also internationally, including in Canada, Mexico, and across Europe. But Oakland is where our roots are, and we know that participating in the Black Joy Parade will help us grow right here at home.

How You Can Help
We’re asking for your support to help us raise the $500 we need for this opportunity. Any contribution, big or small, will make a difference:
$10 could help us print educational materials for the booth.
$25 could go towards creating a beautiful display to represent Kizomba.
$50 or more could help us secure the booth and share the joy of African dance with hundreds of attendees.

If you’re unable to donate, you can still help by sharing this campaign with your friends, family, and social networks.
Deadline for Donations
Our fundraising goal must be met by January 30, 2025, to ensure we can secure our booth and prepare for this incredible event.
Thank you for believing in our mission and for helping us bring the joy, connection, and culture of Kizomba to the Black Joy Parade.

Together, we can make this happen!
