Precious and I, and our old pals Shadow (aka Short Stack) and Vicki, will be at Fremont’s Christensen Field on Tuesday morning for Keene Memorial Library’s “Out & About Story Time”… starts at 10am!! 😃 Open to all community children, free to attend—sounds like they are expecting quite a few kids! 🥰 I’ll put the weekly-event flyer in the comments below, for anyone interested! 👍🏻

Long before today became “Juneteenth”, it became my SOBRIETY ANNIVERSARY. ❤️ Fifteen years have gone by since I made the decision to lead a BETTER life…. be a BETTER mother and wife…. be a BETTER horsewoman…. be a BETTER role model…. just be BETTER in every way. Some people can casually drink alcohol; I am NOT that person.

The morning I found out I was pregnant with Pearl, I made the decision to NEVER pick up a bottle again. I made a promise to God, to myself, to my family…. and I’ve stuck by it for 15 years. It wasn’t always easy, but it’s ALWAYS been worth it. The life I lead without alcohol in it, does not even come close to comparing to the life I lead under the influence. I love life too much, to ever go back. 👍🏻

My only hope is that my sobriety inspires even JUST ONE PERSON to give it a try and find the “better life” too. You truly have no idea how much more enjoyable life can be, until you give it a try for yourself. And let me be your reminder: YOU ARE WORTH IT, TOO! 😘

In honor of WORLD OCEANS DAY, today we’re featuring our favorite ocean creature…. sea HORSES! 🐴

Seahorses are extraordinary, highly unique fish that swim vertically, camouflage like chameleons, and are famous for being one of the only species in the animal kingdom where the males carry and give birth to their young.

These fascinating ocean creatures possess a variety of bizarre and surprising traits:
Male Pregnancy: Female seahorses deposit their eggs into a specialized "brood pouch" on the male's abdomen, where he fertilizes them, carries them for weeks, and goes through labor to give birth to tiny babies called fry.

Chameleon Eyes: Their eyes move completely independently of one another. One eye can look forward for a snack, while the other looks backward to watch for danger!

Vacuum Feeding: They don't have teeth or stomachs. Instead, they use their elongated snouts like a vacuum cleaner to suck up about 3,000 tiny crustaceans and plankton a day.

Prehensile Tails: They use their curly tails to anchor themselves to corals and seagrasses, making sure they don't get swept away by strong currents. They even hold tails with their partners during daily greetings!

Natural Swimmers: They are the only fish that swim in an upright, vertical position. However, because their body shape is so unusual, the dwarf seahorse is considered the slowest fish in the world, moving only about five feet per hour!

Master of Disguise: They can change color to blend seamlessly into their surroundings and hide from predators.
