A massive THANK YOU to 3rd Street Diner for saving the day yesterday! When our new league water bottles came in, they graciously washed and sanitized them for us super fast so our players were ready to go.

Local businesses like 3rd Street Diner are the heart of our community, and we appreciate their generosity so much. Go check them out and show them some OYFL love!

📢 OYFL Board Meeting: Important League Discussion
Join us on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Oakland Masonic Lodge.

We will be joined by Kyle Fike, President of the Preston County Youth Football League, to discuss a potential future league move. All OYFL families are strongly encouraged to attend this public session to learn more and provide.

**To clarify this is a conversation for a potential future move. If parents have any questions please contact a Board Member directly. **

The public session will conclude immediately following the merger discussion, after which the Board will handle regular business. We hope to see you there!

REGISTRATION DEADLINE THIS WEEKEND!

OAKLAND, MD — Time is running out to register for the Oakland Youth Football League (OYFL) 2026 season. The league will hold its final in-person registration event this Saturday, April 11, at the Southern Garrett High School gymnasium from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.5

Programs are available for tackle football and cheerleading (ages 5–14) and flag football (ages 4–6).

Registration Details and Fees:
Tackle Football & Cheerleading: $60 registration fee.
Flag Football: $30 registration fee.
Optional: Personalized jerseys are available for purchase at $50. Please note that additional fees apply for cheerleading participants.

Required Documentation: A copy of the participant’s birth certificate is required at the time of registration.

The OYFL is committed to ensuring all local youth have the opportunity to play. If registration fees present a financial hardship, parents are encouraged to speak with a league representative at the event to discuss available fundraising options.

The 2026 season officially begins with practices in late July, followed by a game schedule running from August through October, including playoffs.

🏈✨ Board of Directors Meeting Announcement ✨🏈

There will be a Board of Directors Meeting for the Oakland Youth Football League held at The Masonic Lodge on Thursday, March 5 at 6pm.

All parents, coaches, and community members are welcome to attend. We look forward to discussing league updates, upcoming season plans, and ways to continue building a strong program for our athletes.

In February 2026, Coach Cogley was diagnosed with Stage 3 lung cancer (squamous cell carcinoma). This type of cancer is considered aggressive, but doctors are hopeful that remission is possible. He is starting with 6 weeks of chemo and radiation, with multiple appointments per week. A benefit dinner is being orchestrated for Coach at the VFW, being that he is also a veteran of the Iraq war, slated for the end of March. For anybody who is willing to provide food or help at the dinner, there is a meeting this Tuesday, 3/3 at the Oakland VFW at 7p.
