This Sunday marked the end of our third week of M-POWER. Every Sunday during the program, we do a trail, walk, jog, or run. This Sunday’s walk was at the Bay Shoreline Trail in Emeryville. Walking is one of the best exercises to nurture the body, clear the mind, and feed the soul. But walking outdoors, by the water, adds a whole new element. Being in nature reduces anger, fear, and stress and increases pleasant feelings. Exposure to nature makes you feel better emotionally and contributes to your physical well-being, lowering blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension, and the production of stress hormones like cortisol. M-POWER is a woman-only fitness program based in Oakland. We are a supportive, non-judgemental community that aims to inspire women of all ages and fitness levels to overcome obstacles and achieve physical fitness goals, self-awareness, and confidence.
