My client, Bob, is a Iron Man triathlete. He has successfully completed many races while staying healthy and injury-free. He would love to coach you to do the same! (He is also one of the nicest people I’ve ever met!)
Read what Bob has to say:
Hello All, I have been one of Karen’s clients for 2+ years, and am so grateful for all the time she has spent training me at UpLift Gym! I am a 62 year old triathlete and a marathon runner, and have looked upon her as my coach.
The reason I’m posting is to let everyone know I am entering the field of coaching. While I’m more of an endurance athlete, I believe many of the same principles (both physical and mental) are needed to successfully reach any type of big fitness goal. What do you think you’d like to try next? Run your first 10k? Set a PR goal? Train for a duathlon or triathlon?
I have been teaching college students for about the same period as I’ve participated in endurance sports. My students have been telling me I’d make a great coach. I tell all of them I not only want them to pass the course, but to help them walk out the door with as much chemistry knowledge to help enhance their upcoming career(s). I’m certain my coaching will mimic my teaching style; my preference is always face to face learning, but I would also entertain the on-line experience.
My running programs will emphasize strength training, so if you’re doing that now, you’re already halfway towards accomplishing that bigger fitness goal! I also use heart rate monitoring to help understand an individual’s training zones, and use it as feedback to design future workouts.
If you (or someone you know) are thinking about starting a running program, improving upon your running, increasing your distance, or accomplishing any specific fitness goal, I hope we’ll have a chance to chat. I live in Oakdale, so we could get together for coffee someplace, or just meet at Karen’s gym to talk. I am definitely open to offering a first month of coaching for free. Thank you for your attention, and I hope I’ll be able to connect with some of you!
