How fun to see my friend Donna Andrews being celebrated by Legends of the LPGA … Hard to believe that is now my era of golf! 🤣 Not only does Donna have a Super impressive career resume: LPGA Tour Major Winner, Solheim Cup player 2x, LPGA Tour President while still playing on Tour, Led the LPGA Tour in Driving accuracy (85.3%), ESPN Golf Announcer, First Female Virginia Golf Hall of Fame Inductee, Virginia Sports Hall of Fame Inductee, North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame Inductee (so fun to be there supporting her with our awesome Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club family)… She is even more impressive as a person, leader, teacher and FRIEND.❤️ I was so excited to reconnect when Donna joined Peggy Kirk Bell’s Golfari Golf School Staff and became the Director of Instruction at Pine Needles close to 20 years ago. Pine Needles has become like a 2nd home for me since 1998 when I first starting teaching for Mrs. Bell. ⛳️ Donna and I first met playing college golf when she played for UNC Chapel Hill and I was playing for the University of Miami… not only did we compete against each other but we also spent time at FCA fellowship meetings at college tournaments. 🙏 Who knew (God knew) all those years ago that she would be such a GREAT support for me during this last year as I underwent a very complex and brutal leg surgery with a recovery that has been much longer and harder than anyone anticipated. Not only did Donna text, she would actually regularly call me to check in. I can still hear her saying, “I just need to hear your voice.” She probably has no idea how much it meant for me to hear HER voice. I am very grateful for her friendship & encouragement and that the Legends of the LPGA are celebrating her! ☺️. Way to Go Donna!
