Labor Day weekend is Friday. Here is the 5 minute gear audit for the guys hosting or playing this weekend.

1. Glove. Pull it out of the bag. If the thumb is cracked or the palm is stiff and shiny, it is done. A Performance Series is $17.99, or $14 each on Buy 4.

For the guys on our Victory Tour notification list, a quick update from the office this morning.

We are a few weeks out. Same details as last month, no moving targets:

For context: the tour balls the big three sell in this construction class run $45 to $55 a dozen. Same layer count, same cover material, different price because we do not have a tour staff to pay.

August 7. If your fall league starts Labor Day weekend, this is your gear window closing.

Five things to actually do this weekend, in order of what will save you the most strokes:

1. Buy the glove now, not the week of. New gloves need one range session to break in. Do it at Saturday's bucket, not on the first tee of your Wednesday league opener. Our Performance Series is $17.99, one size, 13 colors on the site.

August 3. If you play in a fall league, your gear window is now.

Four things worth doing this week before the Wednesday scramble:

1. Look at the palm of your current glove. If the leather patch is glossy and hard, it is done. It is not gripping, it is sliding.
2. Count the balls in your bag. If you are below 6, you are one lost tee shot from playing a range rock on the 14th.
3. Check the tee pocket. Nothing in there? Every Performance Series glove ships with a tee built into the strap. Solved.

Rough math from last Saturday at our page manager's home course.

He played 18. Lost 3 balls in the fescue on the front, saved 2 walking off the tee box thanks to a matte pink Spectra in the rough that would have been invisible in white.

Running cost of playing white balls at $4 each, at his rate of loss: about $12 per round. Over a 27-round season that is $324 in the woods.
