🏫 Facilities Update | Stanly County Schools

Stanly County Schools facilities will be open this evening, Friday, January 30, for scheduled events and activities.

However, all SCS facilities will be CLOSED this weekend, Saturday, January 31 – Sunday, February 1.

🚫 This means NO Stanly County Schools facilities will be open or available for use on Saturday or Sunday.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize safety and monitor weather conditions.

UPDATE (10am, Jan. 27): We are back open and thawing out.

Like our friends up at Morrow Mountain State Park, we have closed the entrance to Oakboro District Park until we can make sure the ice accumulation no longer poses a risk to park visitors. Stay safe everyone, and we will make an updated post as soon as the park is reopened!

***Update 1/27 - The park is back open at 12:00 pm. The road to the summit remains closed due to icy road conditions.

Due to forecasted winter weather, Morrow Mountain is closed effective at 5pm on Saturday, January 24th and will remain closed until further notice and after all hazards are remedied. For your safety and the safety of our staff, please do not enter the park while it is closed. An updated closure status can be found at the park’s website www.ncparks.gov
