Oak Ridge Tennis Club

Oak Ridge Tennis Club ORTC's mission is to support, promote, and increase tennis in the Oak Ridge, Tennessee area. Find u

Oak Ridge Tennis Club began as a grass-roots community tennis organization, formerly incorporated and completely manned by an all volunteer Board and staff. We had been in existence as an unincorporated nonprofit association since at least 1970 --back when the participating membership numbers were huge and tennis was in its heyday. Now we are facing a new challenge for tennis, with more recreation

al sports leagues, like soccer, pervading the landscape. As of 2010 we registered with the state and were recognized as a Tennessee not-for-profit corporation and a 501 (c) (3) determination as a public charitable organization. In July 2015, we dissolved the corporate structure, and now currently exist as an informal collection of individuals that love tennis and want to promote tennis opportunities in Oak Ridge and surrounding areas and provide an information clearinghouse for all things tennis in our area on our website, and our pages and Twitter. ORTC did offer Spring and Fall Leagues, for Adults and Juniors, of Mixed and Gender Doubles, Singles, Morning and Evening times. Every Spring, ORTC assists with offering community wide tennis programs for the kids on six Wednesday afternoons (sometimes referred to as the Girls Inc. program) teaching them basics and providing free equipment and overall exposure to the game. We also sponsored USTA sanctioned tournaments for Juniors and Adults, offer free lessons, seminars and tennis outings to the community at large and special groups, have social gatherings for tennis lovers, and much, much more! Check the ORTC website (oakridgetennisclub.org) for any current news or activities being offered by various groups regarding tennis.

This year, I'll be back in Memphis for the Fed Ex St. Jude Championship in August. And of course, I'm proud to once again be raising funds for St. Jude's lifesaving mission of battling childhood cancer. I can't thank my family and friends enough for their generous support, year after year.

How your donation helps:

Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — so they can focus on helping their child live
Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened in 1962. And we won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
St. Jude shares the breakthroughs it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands of children.
Thanks for considering donating to this wonderful cause!

—Dale

The FedEx St. Jude Classic is almost here. I support the life-saving work at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital through Hours for St. Jude presented by BlueCross.
