Snow Bowl Ski Area Old Snow Bowl Ski Area as Snow Bowl Crosscountry Trails backcounty destination. Touring skis only. No uphill hiking. Backcountry conditions.

Trails are not groomed. Ungroomed trails have certain characteristics that are rarely found at commercial winter resorts that may or may not be suitable for beginners or novices. Even an inexperienced skier that might be an expert level skier at a groomed winter resort might have difficulties skiing variable snow conditions. All Skiers should have a helmet. No uphill hiking in boots. Only touring

gear is allowed. Obstacles can be present and will most likely be unmarked. Snow conditions can change rapidly from wet to ice, powder to crusty so be aware. Ride with others and not alone. Never ski here without someone knowing that you are heading here. Be safe and always look ahead!

Another friendly reminder to respect the freeze/thaw cycle and please try and only ski when the temperatures are below freezing. Stick to the mornings if possible for the next week or so. Keeping off the melting soft snow will help preserve this current base as long as possible.

Reports are coming in that Snow Bowl got over 12” of new snow and should be great for skiing. Go get after it and report your experience back here.

As we transition further into this freeze/thaw cycle, please try and only ski when the temperatures are below freezing. Remember there was no real base prior to this awesome snow we’ve been playing in so wet turns will put you right into mud and rocks Keeping off the melting soft snow will help preserve this current base. Hopefully another storm brings a nice refresh soon. What a run it’s been!!

Another blue bird day

Still lots of powder stashes.

Avoid the branches at the bottom of the moguls section of Stage Trail. They marking the top of large rocks in the boulder field. That’s the only place rocks are exposed. Rest of trails rock free with good powdery surface.

Skied the place alone. How much would you pay for a private exclusive ski area. It’s not the Yellowstone Clib in Big Ski and it exclusive to those that earn their turns.

Today was the first of a three day snow fall five years ago. Over 34” fell. We skied on that into end of march!

Today snow pack is 18” and still lots of powder that’s getting better each day as it packs down as powder. The cold is sucking out moisture and forming larger crystals. It’s slow turns and deep powder.
