Last night's Special Olympics Illinois opening ceremonies for summer games was well represented by Oak Lawn Park District athletes. Torch run- Becca, Flag Barrer- Christine, & Flag Barrer- Todd. Thanks to Special Olympics Illinois- Region E for being this year's host Region.

Great start to the weekend. Scott & Don took GOLD, and Zac & John took BRONZE in unified co****le tournament. Maggie also took BRONZE in her 400 M run. More updates throughout the weekend as athletes participate in Swim, Gymnastics, Track, & Soccer skills. Off to Special Olympics Illinois State Summer games Opening Ceremony after dinner.

We are officially just one week away from Team Illinois heading to Minnesota for the Special Olympics USA Games!
The Oak Lawn athletes and coach will depart from the Oak View Center (4625 W. 110th Street, Oak Lawn) at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18. The group will be leaving from the west side of the building in the parking lot.
We encourage anyone and everyone who would like to help send off these incredible athletes to join us! Let's show them how proud we are of their hard work, dedication, and accomplishments.
Make signs, bring patriotic decorations, wear your red, white, and blue, and help us give Team Illinois the enthusiastic send-off they deserve as they represent our community and Team Illinois on the national stage.
Let's cheer them on and wish them the best of luck as they go for the gold!

Today, the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics officially kicked off. The torch will travel across the nation, concluding in Minnesota at the Special Olympics USA Games. Athletes, Unified partners, and a coach from Oak Lawn have dedicated themselves to training with team Illinois this past year. We can't wait to see how you do. 🏐 🏊‍♀️🤸‍♀️🥇
