🏊♂️ MAKOS MEET RECAP 🦈
You can take these little Vineyard fishes out of the water, but apparently you can’t slow them down!
Despite spending months without access to our home pool, our swimmers delivered an incredible weekend of racing at the KING-CAC Almost Summer Meet in Warwick, RI, and the Bay State Games Qualifier. The results speak for themselves: personal bests, first-time events, podium finishes, and championship qualifications.
⭐ Anders Mason (11) posted personal bests in every event he raced, including a remarkable 17-second drop in the 100-meter freestyle.
⭐ Burke Murtha (8) took on long course meters for the very first time and earned personal bests across the board, including a successful first-ever legal breaststroke race after weeks of hard work and determination.
⭐ Jack Nanes (10) competed in two meets over the weekend, qualifying for the Bay State Games Finals in five events while also earning a 2nd-place finish and additional personal bests in his first long course races of the season.
These accomplishments are a testament to the dedication, resilience, and positive attitude of our swimmers and coaches. To achieve results like this without regular pool access is truly impressive.
Now the best part: we’re finally back in our newly renovated YMCA pool! 💙
If this team can produce performances like these without a pool, we can’t wait to see what’s ahead now that we’re back home and training together again.
LET’S GO MAKOS! 🦈🔥
