Saturday started off cold, windy and wet. Not exactly good turkey hunting conditions. Throughout the morning each hunter had several jakes come by but the long beards remained with their ladies. Around 11:00am Eric’s patience was rewarded when this long beard came strutting in silently to the decoys and Eric put the smack down on the tom. Mark had played a little cat and mouse game with his tom around noon. The tom won the first round of the game. Then Mark decided to set up in the blind in an area that had several toms hanging out during the past couple days. After settling into the blind and calling a bit, this big old double bearded tom came walking towards the decoys. After the morning game of cat and mouse this tom was a little leery of the decoys and hung up. But Mark settled the bead on the tom and made a fantastic shot on the old bird. Congratulations fellas!

Glad to see the heatwave pass. Much cooler temps today have helped to improve the daytime movement. The young bucks are starting to show interest in the doe. If the cool temps stick around the activity should really pick up next week. Good luck and be safe.

Another beautiful morning in the turkey woods. Toms are gobbling and the sun is beginning to peak over the hills.

Wow it was a great hunt with these guys! 5 toms were killed in six hours of hunting. Matt Buggi set a new speed record by whacking his tom in less then 10 minutes of hunting. While waiting for our last two hunters to show up at the cabin we spotted this tom feeding in one of our fields. Brian set up with Matt along a grassy fenceline and called the bird right into the decoy. Matt smoked the old tom at 20 yards. Then about a hour later Shawn called in 4 toms setting up John and Randy for a great double tom harvest! And to top it off the following morning Shawn called in a flock with 4 toms and a jake. The father son McCann duo waited till the red heads separated enough for a clean shot. Then they proceed to whack two more long beards! Great shooting fellas and thanks for all the great new memories!
