I couldn't be more proud of these young athletes and what they accomplished this weekend!
We showed up to the Ozark Classic ready to play ball, and these young ladies did exactly that. We went undefeated in pool play, showcasing not only the versatility of our pitching staff, but also our ability to have players step into multiple positions and execute at a high level.
In bracket play, we came out strong in the semifinals behind an absolute gem of a pitching performance from #2 Tayler Ford.
In the championship game, we faced a very tough Kaos team from Urbana Mo. It was a battle from start to finish, with both teams having moments where they shined and momentum constantly swinging back and forth.
When the timer expired, the score was tied and we headed into ITB⦠not once, not twice, but THREE times. Every extra inning, we managed to pull ahead, and every time they answered right back. In the final ITB inning, the game ended on a walk-off play at the plate.
Even though we came up just short, these young ladies represented Wrecking Crew to the fullest. Their hard work, resilience, and dedication to growth were on full display all weekend long.
Proud doesn't even begin to describe how I feel.
What stood out even more was the bond that continues to grow between our players, families, and friends. This weekend truly embodied everything we strive to build within this program, and everyone absolutely knocked it out of the park.
Out of 12 teams, bringing home a Runner-Up finish is nothing to hang your heads about.
Ladies, I hope you understand that this weekend will forever be stamped in my heart. This is more than softball. It's growth, adversity, relationships, memories, and a family that continues to get stronger every single week.
Keep your heads high. The future is bright. ππ©·π₯
