We have our first Caught Being T.O.U.G.H.E.E recipient. Congrats to Marina Brown who receives her coin for her actions from yesterday's soccer game. During a hard fought game against a talented Lakeland team, Marina did not hesitate to help an opposing player who was cramping.

Marina's selfless, act of sportsmanship is exactly what being T.O.U.G.H.E.E is all about.

Tired herself, Marina showed exceptional leadership and grace.

Great job Marina!!

Yesterday our football players heard from one more legendary alumni Mr. Thomas Sanders.

Another alumni who is a member of both the Nyack and Rockland County HOF.

• In 1967, Thomas was the only Freshman to make the Varsity Football team, but he was still able to make an impact down the stretch in a championship campaign.
• His Sophomore year, he was part of a dominant Defense that only allowed 25 points during an undefeated title-winning season.
• Sanders earned Second-Team All-County honors, playing alongside Bob Corvino and Greg D’Auria, under Coach Paul Lankau , on what was later named the Rockland County Team of the Decade.
• As a Junior, Thomas led Rockland in rushing and scoring, on the way to winning a third straight PSAL title.
• The versatile Sanders was First-Team All-County as a running back, Second-Team All-County as a defensive back, and was also a great kick returner.
• Thomas was voted to the Daily News All-Stars All-Metro Team.
• His Senior year, Thomas was a Captain, and First-Team All-County Offense and Defense
• Sanders was also a Guard on the Basketball team. He helped Nyack become a powerful force in the County, and they won the Section title in 1970.

• After Nyack High School, Sanders joined the Jackson State Football team, before attending Tougaloo College,
• There he became All-League in the Triple Jump, despite having no previous experience.

Perhaps most important and most impressive, Thomas then served 21 years in the Army Medical Corps. He was deployed across the world, and earned numerous medals for distinguished service, retiring as a Sergeant First Class.

Tommy, we thank you for your words of wisdom and encouragement!!

Yesterday we had two more legends come speak to our football team. Special thanks to Greg D'Auria and Dale Lydecker for spending some time with the squad.

Greg D’Auira

Greg was a powerful force on a dominant Nyack Football team that won titles all three years he was on the team.

He was also a star on the Baseball team, which he helped improve dramatically over his three years on the squad.

D’Auria attended Temple University on a full ride out of high school, and also played college Football at the University of Vermont.

Greg earned numerous accolades, including All County (offense and defense), All State (as a Center), Rockland County Lineman of the Year, and Monday Morning Quarterback MVP.

Dale Lydecker

Dale was also one of the top multi sport talents in the area.

He garnered attention from MLB scouts and was even drafted by the Chicago White Sox.

Lydecker chose to go to college before going pro, and at the University of North Carolina he remarkably excelled for both the baseball and football teams.

Dale then impressively managed to play both professional baseball and football, suiting up for a New York Mets’ minor league team and the New Orleans Saints.

Thanks again gentleman!!
