I've spent the last day thinking about everything from the last five years. It all flew by so fast Nicole couldn't catch it (probably). There were so many moving parts to make it happen during the hottest part of the year and we were lucky to have so many people willing to pour their time into it.

First, thank you to JFrank for the kind words at the finish on Saturday and for believing in this race from the jump. I'm glad we got housed at Savannah Corner in 2019.

Stacey deserves all the credit and all the shine. I was very lucky she jumped into this crazy thing (and that she's a Nowata County homie). She put up with all the extra ideas that didn't make sense and made them happen. She made race day feel like race day in so many ways. As all of you know, she's one of the best humans you'll ever meet. Thank you for dealing with my dumb, procrastinating ass. ❤️ Her parents, Tricia and Randy, have also done so much for this race. Wayne deserves a shoutout too for picking perfect watermelons every year.

Thank you to Nowata Public Schools. There has been a lot of turnover during the five years of SHOST, and they could've easily said no or made things difficult. Instead, they always welcomed us back. Go Ironmen!

Landon and everyone at the Gibson Motel, thank you for always accommodating our runners. Everyone had great things to say about staying there, and we appreciate you taking care of them.

And to the drivers of Nowata... thank you for not hitting any runners and only dusting them from time to time. I call that a success!

Drew, thank you for everything you've done with Hasty Bake. The food was always incredible. Having a top-tier brand connected to SHOST will never be taken for granted. Thank you!

Martin (&crew), thank you for everything you've done through I-40. The timing and coverage helped make our little race feel like a big one. And thanks for the cooler dump. Never thought I'd get to check that one off the bucket list.

A huge thank you to Adam Miller for capturing the last three years (and a shoutout to Arnold Begay for Years 1 and 2). Runners love seeing pictures of themselves suffering and you two made sure everyone had plenty of memories to look back on!

Karen, thank you for being our Snowball Queen and keeping everyone cool and full of sugar.

To all of our volunteers over the years—Lindsay, Jason, Brother Dave, Brother John, Jimmy, Lilly, Sarah, Clint, my wife, my mom, and anyone else I'm forgetting—thank you!

And finally, thank you to every runner who signed up, spread the word, or came back year after year. SHOST became more than a race and I'm proud it happened in my hometown.

This page won't disappear. We'll still post from time to time and I hope to get out to more races and see some your faces. There have been enough of you weirdos over the last five years that I can't remember all of your names anymore, so if I call you "dude" don't take it personal. 😊

Thank you for trusting us with your last weekend in July. It has meant more than you'll probably ever know.
