Meet Vanessa Cariba, a guiding light for business moms seeking to transition from overwhelm to organization by building profit and creating sales pillars.

Vanessa's path wasn't always clear-cut. Like many, she found herself trapped in the corporate box, following the herd without questioning if it truly aligned with her soul's calling.

But it was the relentless grind of 12 years in the same cycle that finally pushed Vanessa to her breaking point—a place of despair and burnout. Yet, in that darkness, a spark of hope flickered—a belief that there must be another way to live, to thrive.

With unwavering courage, Vanessa took a leap of faith, resigning from her corporate role despite the uncertainties that lay ahead. Supported by her husband's unwavering belief, she embarked on a journey to rediscover her true self and build a life rooted in authenticity.

Thoughts create feelings. 💡

So all of that chatter in your mind - berating yourself for not getting up earlier or getting the kids out of the house or the never-ending to-do list or or or… it’s NOT helping! 🙅‍♀️

There’s really no reason to rush.

If you’re behind schedule, rushing won’t get you there faster, it’ll get you there frenzied.

If you’re in the shower and your mind’s rushing, you’re not actually DOING anything except winding yourself up.

So, I invite you to notice when you’re rushing and stop. 🛑

Take a breath or two and let yourself explore the possibility that whatever you’re doing will be so much better if you just let go of the rush.

Give it a try and let me know what you discover.

I’ve been practicing for a while now and believe me, my family notices the difference. 😉

What’s it like for you when you don’t know what’s going to happen?

Are you a thrill j***y? 🎢 Do you thrive on unpredictability & adventure? LOVE living on the edge? 🚀

If so, you're only about 30% of the population!!

The other 70% of us CAN’T STAND uncertainty.

We want to know what’s going to come next. Predictability is comfortable.

Uncertainty is scary as hell. 😱

Have you ever watched your brain in action when you’re uncertain?

It wants to categorize, to plan, to create... it’s desperate to find some kind of structure inside the uncertainty because that feels a little safer.

But, here’s the kicker... 🎯

There is no certainty. Ever.

The job you go to predictably, every day could disappear tomorrow.

The corner shop where you grab your coffee on the way to said job could go up in flames.

Your car could NOT be in your driveway tomorrow.

None of this is meant to incite fear in you. This is just reality & most of us navigate it daily without really giving it much thought.

AND uncertainty doesn’t necessarily require an incident that shakes up your life. You could be uncertain about a choice…

Where to send your child to school.

How to tell your mom that you’re going to your in-laws for Christmas.

Which new job offer to choose.

Your brain still goes into the same pattern of overdrive trying to create safety & comfort.

It may agonize over the decision, keeping you up at night.

Or you may poll 50 people for their input; many whose opinion you don’t even value.

All in the name of searching for security.

It’s normal, it’s your very human brain trying to feel safe. 💖

And it’s utterly exhausting.

If you’re ready to shift your perspective on uncertainty and turn it into an opportunity for growth and self-discovery read more on my latest blog post: https://www.jennifersherwood.com/single-post/how-uncertainty-is-a-chance-to-learn-and-grow

I heard Brene Brown pose this question:

“Do you think people are doing their best?”

Spoiler alert, her first reaction was hell no! But, that stance has changed over time.

If your initial reaction is no, that’s ok. AND I invite you to be open to seeing things differently.

Some people are looking to make changes and improve their life. That’s YOU if you’re reading this! 😄

But, for others they either can’t or won’t look at their lives and behaviors in that same way.

We all carry a certain amount of experience, motivation, desire, resilience, and/or a willingness to actually examine our impact on ourselves and others.

With that comes the tools that we use to navigate the world.

Some have more and better tools than others.

So, if you consider people making their way through the world can you let yourself imagine that they are doing the best they can with the tools that they have?

Let me be clear-that doesn’t mean we have to like or condone what they are doing.

But, if you could imagine that, what would it do for YOU?

Is it possible it would allow you to let go of some irritation or judgment?

My Dad was an alcoholic.

He could be defensive and cruel.

He caused a lot of unnecessary suffering for my family.

And yet when I think about the fact that his Dad died in a car accident when he was 8 and his mom left him and his siblings to be raised by his aunts it changes my perspective.

He had zero examples of how to parent or be a husband.

Does that excuse it? Hell no!

But, realizing that he just didn’t have the tools to be any different than he was helps me let go of some of the anger and resentment I’ve felt toward him for years.

Could he have gotten help and improved? Some people can, but he didn’t have the capacity for it or he would have.

There is healing in accepting who he was. I genuinely believe he was doing his best with the tools he had - which weren’t many.

What could change for you if you were willing to play with this idea?

Feel free to comment and let me know. I’d love to hear.

Ever feel like making a decision is like a Herculean task?

Sometimes it’s true on big life decisions as much as it is deciding on lunch. 🙄

You’re not sure so you ask a friend.

You hear what she’s saying, but you’re still not sure so you ask another friend…

Then your sister…

Then a co-worker…

Your husband…

The checker at the grocery store…

And 47 people later you still don’t know what you want to do!

Ok I’m exaggerating, but if you recognize even a little bit of yourself in here, I see you.

For some women it can be really difficult to make decisions. Why is that??

Women are bombarded with societal expectations, creating a pressure to meet certain standards in just about every area of our lives. This can make decision-making feel like walking a tightrope – a constant balancing act to meet external standards.

Also, for most women caregiving and self sacrifice are ingrained in us. Making people happy is of the utmost importance even if it means losing ourselves in the process. We no longer know what we want or need.

It’s difficult to trust yourself to make decisions when you don't know what you want.

Finally, let’s not forget how many of us are subconsciously trying to do everything perfectly. What if you make the WRONG decision? That thought can be paralyzing, which is why we ask 47 people and still don’t know what we want.

So, what can you do about it?

Start finding your way back to you.

The truly important people in your life don’t need a people pleaser, they need the REAL you.

What simple things give you pleasure?

What piques your curiosity?

Follow that.

And practice making small decisions without worrying about the consequences. If you believe you can learn something from just about any situation then there are no wrong choices.

Try starting there and see where it takes you.

Meet Dr Jerrica Dodd, a remarkable pharmacist and entrepreneur with 24 years of experience. She's the visionary behind Your Pharmacy Advocate LLC, pioneering advocacy-focused care for patients' better health outcomes.

As a sought-after speaker, Dr. Dodd shares her wisdom on stages, guiding women in pharmacy to build impactful businesses. Moreover, she's the proud Executive Editor of PharmaSis Magazine: Celebrating Women in Pharmacy which recognizes the brilliance of women in pharmacy.

As Dr. Dodd phrased it, before she was living her truth, she was the "valedictorian of Should University." Her personality was to be respectful of authority, and as a pharmacist, she was very risk averse - fitting nice and neat into whatever box society approved of.

That changed when she hit a wall and was confronted with severe burnout.
She had to make the choice of leaving her job - regardless of what others had to say and make her life work for HER, not for what others expected her to do.

Join us in celebrating her incredible journey of leaving expectation behind and dedication to advocating for patient care and empowering women in pharmacy.
