Teri first stepped into a yoga class about 30 years ago. By the end of that very first class, she had completely let go of her workday thoughts. “I knew then there was something really magical about yoga, and I wanted more of that.”
Still, it wasn’t until she joined Sukha that she committed to a consistent practice.
Now a founding member since we opened in 2014, she has been part of our community from the very beginning.
One of the biggest changes she noticed was physical. She used to wake up with body aches and blamed it on getting older. After practicing regularly, those aches disappeared. But the deeper shift was internal. “The calm and grounded feeling I experience during yoga carries into the rest of my day.” Over time, she has developed a quieter mind.
Teri encourages new students to start slow, listen to their bodies, use props, and rest in child’s pose when needed. “Slow and steady works much better than comparing yourself to others and pushing too hard too fast. It’s a practice, not a race.”
Now enjoying early retirement, Teri fills her days with travel, hiking Marin’s beautiful trails, and spending time with family, friends, and the furry ones. She also treasures the yoga retreats she has attended with Sukha teachers, calling them “a beautiful way to deepen your practice and develop friendships.”
For Teri, yoga has been a steady source of calm, connection, and quiet joy for decades.
