Happy Tuesday Raider Nation! Today we would like to recognize the JV team which was the direction of Coach Schwirtz and Coach Kalkes this year. These JV guys pushed the Varsity squad all year and never let anyone take a game, let alone a pitch, off. The growth that was seen goes well beyond wins and losses. Here is a little note from Coach Schwirtz:

Baseball is a game of adjustments, and at the JV level no game or lineup looked the same. With many players moving up to varsity, going back and forth, or even coming down from varsity to get some swings or innings on the bump, it's all controlled chaos.

With that being said this is one of the most resilient groups of young men I have been around. Never heard a "no" to an opportunity or setback. Many players played different positions, acquired new skills, and learned how to play situational baseball!

The JV squad went on to finish the season 11-6-1. This team swung the bats exceptionally well, where 4 players (Kolten Kley, Aiden McChrohan, Owen Miller, and Jackson Koehler) had averages of over .400 (Kolten and Owen were both over .500). They boys also showed perseverance on the mound with 6 players throwing over 10 innings on the year battling through tough innings and coming up big when needed!

This group will be a great ball club for the next few years as long as the boys continue to work hard and push each other!

To each of the JV guys who threw on a jersey at some point throughout the season, along with the coaches, THANK YOU!! Just the beginning for a great group of young men!

Just wasn't meant to be. The Raiders season comes to an end following a tough 4-2 loss this afternoon in Litchfield. Evenski started on the mound and was locked in a pitchers duel. The good guys started the scoring first with the first two runs. Neubarth led off with a single, followed by a sacrifice bunt by M. Miller. Evenski then doubled him home, who then scored off a single by Grams. Unfortunately that was all we could muster. SWC battled and scored all they needed in the bottom of the 6th. McCrohan added a hit on the afternoon as well. All in all..nothing to hang your heads on...just wasn't meant to be.

There will be more coming soon in regards to the season and the accomplishments this team made along with all of our thank yous. Until then...THANK YOU Raider Nation!!!

We were once again lucky enough to have Coach Seemann coach our C Squad this year. Coach Seemann and gave his best effort on the coaching side, which resulted in the boys giving it their all as well. Day in and day out they showed up and worked hard, pushing for spots and always wanting to get better.

Here is a quick recap from Coach Seemann:

C Squad finished the season 4-3-1. Although we had a short season due to weather and injuries at the upper levels, this team showed up ready to play each chance they got, including at the JV level. Also, due to the circumstances we had a total of 17 starters throughout the season and some of those players were playing as many as five or six different positions. Pitching was a strong point for this team down the stretch, throwing strikes and letting the defense work. A highlight of the season was ending it on a three game win streak. Not only did we win those three games, but we gave up a combined four hits in those three wins. Excited to see where this young team is headed in the future.

Thanks again to Coach Seemann and ALL of the guys he had a chance to work with this year. Keep working hard this summer and enjoy every second!

Ugh...losing is always tough. Even more difficult when it's a hard fought game on both sides. Neubarth started the scoring with an RBI double in the third, scoring Dahl. D. Pauly took to the mound and threw well...just had one long inning which ultimately did us in. We battled back with two runs in the top of the 7th off of a double by Dent...just wasn't enough. Raiders lose 4-3. Neubarth led the way at the plate with two hits, followed M. Miller, Evenski, Grams, and Dent with one each.

Next up is a win-or-go home game. The game will be in Litchfield @ 3:30...opponent will be Southwest Christian. Keep the heads up, Raiders!

The sun is shining which means it is another great day in Raider Nation. Today we would like to take time to recognize our 8th grade team which was coached by Coach Rauch. Was great to hear about the growth each and every game. The team would show up determined to work hard and the results followed. Here is a little something from Coach Rauch:

After starting the season 1-5, the 8th graders rallied to finish the season on a 6-3-1 run. We had 9 of our guys pitch multiple innings, and kids got a taste of different positions. It took a few games, but our hitting eventually came around, and we played a number of defensively sound games. Even though we took a tough loss to end the season, the 8th graders made solid strides throughout the year, and developed their baseball I.Q. as well.

Great work, gentleman. Keep working this summer and we look forward to the success that follows you!

The weather was nice and warm...so we decided to play a few extra innings! All worth it when you WIN!! Evenski toed the rubber and threw the first 8 innings...yielding two run in the first and that was it. Two big hits in the top of the 7th by Kube and D. Pauly tied it. It was back and forth for the next few innings, we'd score a few and they'd fight back to tie it.

Grams and Dahl put the ball in play and Dahl pushed the envelope on the bases to steal a few runs. Ultimately Neubarth, who threw the 9th, 10th, and 11th, gave way to Grams and M. Miller who closed things out the game.

So many things to talk about, but it all comes to how this TEAM stuck together throughout the night. Such a great group of guys who are willing to do the little things, no matter what it is, to keep the team going in the right direction.

Next up...GSL on Thursday @ Glencoe. Thank you for all of your support throughout season, and especially today!
