Press Release: NORWAY SPEEDWAY WRAPS UP 2025!

The Farewell to Summer 500 has becoming affectionately known as the Fall 500. The event is put on by the Dickinson County Fair Board and the Dickinson County Racing Association to take advantage of the campgrounds and the multi-purpose room located on the property. The weekend is family themed and places an emphasis on the children of the fan base & competitors with many activities for the kids. Admission for the event was only $5 and it’s growing in all aspects. This year though the event experienced one of the most bizarre weather patterns in years as rain was reported & forecasted for the entire weekend. Unbelievably it seemed to rain everywhere but directly over the speedway. And while attendance was down and the car count although bigger than the previous year wasn’t what it could have been due to the impending forecast, the race went on without delay. The race is a bracketed race which allows any car that meets the standard racing requirements allowed to compete. The winner of this year’s Fall 500 and the winner of the $500 1st prize was former Speedway Champion Anthony Schiefelbein. Schiefelbein whose season was cut short this year due to engine issues, put another motor in to be able to compete at the race. The efforts of him, his team & family paid off as they won the 2nd annual race. Finishing 2nd Marquette, MI’s Bode Johnson. Bode Johnson who made an exciting last lap pass to move from 4th to 2nd also won the 4th heat race. 3rd was Kingsford’s Jon Maenpaa and his most impressive run of his career, Trever Cronick the 2025 Whelen fab 4 Track Champion wowed the crowd by finishing 4th in his 4 cylinder, Stewart Hornick from Peshtigo had his best finish of the season finishing 5th. 6th Felch’s Hayden McFarland, 7th was Norway, MI’s Joe Ostermann who was also the Fast Qualifier 17.004, 8th 2025 141 Auto Sportsman Track Champion Travis Hulsizer, 9th Marquette’s Shawn Harry who for the 2nd year in a row took his 4 cylinder to an impressive top 10 finish, taking advantage of the novel event by trading in his crew chief hat for Track Champion Ryan Wender and putting on his racing helmet and finishing an impressive 10th place Mike Pontbriand in his first race. 11th was Green Bay’s Jeff Nooyen who also won the 2nd heat and transferred from the b main, 12th Iron Mountain’s Emily Vincent also won the 1st heat, 13th Escanaba’s dirt dog Cody Turner, 14th Iron Mountain’s Noah O’Connor, 15th Aurora’s Darren Peterson.
In the B Main there was a surprise winner driving the #99 Pat Temple Hall of Famer replica car owned by 141 Auto. Noah is the son of Cameron O’Connor the Speedway’s Director of Public Relations, and it was a very exciting moment for both of them. In only his 2nd race he held off one of the speedway’s standouts Green Bay’s Jeff Nooyen for his 1st win. Finishing 3rd was Escanaba’s Cody Turner, 4th, Iron Mountain’s Emily Vincent, 5th Aurora’s Darren Peterson, 6th Don Cotterman, 7th Cody Gunville, 8th Andy Street, 9th Jake Vanhese.
In the Spectator Eliminators Vulcan’s Dean Varda took home 1st place in his Chevy 2500 truck.
In the Powder Puff race Courtney Johnson of Green Bay, WI driving Jeff Nooyen’s car won her 1st race at Norway Speedway. 2nd iron Mountain’s Emily Vincent, 3rd 15-year-old Abby Vanhese, 4th Felch’s Reihannen Reed, 5th Peshtigo’s Sophi Hornick.
The next Norway Speedway event will be the awards banquet held at the Island Resort & Casino on December 27th, 2025.
