Full workout from my client who is currently in phase 1 of the Muscle Manual program.

The real trick to how this program works so well is the use of double progression.

Double progression is a smart and simple method for gradually increasing your strength. It revolves around two variables that drive progress: how many reps you do and how much weight you lift. That’s the “double” in double progression.

Here’s how it works: You pick a weight and a rep range such as 5 to 8 reps per set. Perform two or three sets with that same weight. If you’re able to hit the top of your rep range across all sets (for example, 8 reps in every set), that’s your cue to bump the weight up next time. If you fall short, stay at the same weight until you’re able to reach that upper rep target consistently.

Double progression is an intuitive system that helps lifters make consistent gains. It allows for flexibility while offering clear signals for when to increase the challenge, and that’s a recipe for long-term success.

When I first started to train clients I was only about getting strong, ignoring all these other qualities that the human body needs to keep thriving. Strength is extremely important, and I would argue to pursue that first and foremost for a majority of people.

There is this notion that once you stop playing organized sports in HS/College that it’s time to totally hang up being an athlete. This is something that is detrimental to your development as a human and can later have a profound effect on your life as you continue to age.

This has been my 2nd workout session of the week for the last 3 months. It has a blend of power and strength with movements I thoroughly enjoy which keeps me motivated to hit the gym hard weekly.

Clean Complex x3 challenging sets
Back Squat x2 moderate sets of 6
Bent Over Back Row x2 hard sets of 8
Superset Leg extension + Dips x 2-3 sets
