Aikido of Norwalk

Aikido of Norwalk Kongoshinkan Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial arts dojo specializing in Aikido.

Additionally, we incorporate Zen meditation into our practice, fostering a holistic approach to physical and mental well-being. The Kongoshinkan Aikido Dojo (Aikido of Norwalk) was founded to offer all persons a place to pursue the refinement of their character through the martial discipline of Aikido. Aikido's efficacy is generated from strategy, movement, and a variety of throwing, joint-locking

, pinning and striking techniques that require little physical strength to perform. Training stresses form, mutual cooperation, awareness of others and the coordination of the body's movement with a calm state of mind. Aside from its utility as a method of self-defense, Aikido also stresses the perfection of character and the development of positive human qualities such as compassion, courage, endurance and inner strength. In this spirit, Aikido training is undertaken to improve the individual and society.

Hot Aikido 🥵🥋

The dojo started class at 93°F last night.

Fans running, plenty of water breaks, and a lot of movement.

We worked through tai sabaki from tsuki, added a new sixth movement into practice, and applied the movements into kokyunage and men-nage variations.

Even in the heat, training stays focused, safe, and fun.

And yes… we still had our regular social afterward.

Progress in Aikido doesn’t happen all at once.

It comes from consistent training, attention to detail, and showing up over time.

Every class builds on the last.

Failure isn’t the opposite of progress, IT IS THE PROGRESS.🥋

Every missed technique, every imbalance, every moment of struggle is a lesson in awareness, humility, and growth.

In Aikido, failure teaches you how to adjust, breathe, and try again with intention. On the mat and in life, it’s through falling that we learn how to rise stronger. At Aikido of Norwalk, failure is welcomed as part of the journey forward.
