Every second Saturday of August in Northport, Michigan, a fun, whimsical parade is held for dogs and their families to walk the streets of Northport while dressed according to the theme of the year.

🐾 We’re so proud of our Northport Dog Parade community! 🐾

As this article highlights, the 2025 Northport Dog Parade raised $22,000 for local canine-related charities—supporting rescue organizations, veterinarians, and dogs (and owners!) who need it most.

What started as a joyful parade has become a powerful way to give back, and none of this would be possible without our sponsors, volunteers, participants, and the incredible Northport community.

It is with a heavy heart that we share news of the passing of David Chrobak, beloved founder of the Northport Dog Parade.

David dreamed up the Dog Parade more than two decades ago — what began as a small “Dog Days of Summer” celebration with just a handful of participants has grown into a cherished tradition that brings our community together each year.

He believed in the power of joy, laughter, and community spirit — and made room for every wagging tail, every person who walked with their dog, and every costume, big or small. Year after year, David’s vision transformed streets of Northport into a celebration of love for our canine companions and a testament to what happens when neighbors unite.

We invite you to join us in honoring his memory. Please share in celebrating David’s life — and we are sharing his obituary below for those who wish to read more about his journey.

🐾 Forever grateful for the love, laughter, and paw-prints he brought to our town. Rest in peace, David.
