Are you interested in science-based strategies to help you get better at practicing mountain biking skills?

Then take MTB Practice Lab's FREE 5-Day Online Practice Strategies Challenge.

Taking the Challenge provides an opportunity to mentally engage (wrestle?) with some of the practice strategies featured in the MTB Practice Lab newsletter since July 2022.

It’s a mini-course with quizzes, polls, and open-ended questions mixed in with reading, watching, and listening.

Click here for the landing page with a complete description of each day of the Challenge and an FAQ:

It's stay-at-home season so why not stay sharp with some ride-at-home obstacles? Patrick Mitzel , one of my local MTB riding buddies, has authored a free "DIY Guide to Building Backyard MTB Practice Obstacles," now posted to the Ryan Leech Connection blog.

Over the years I’ve put a lot of effort into creating MTB skill features to help me progress through certain skills and progressions found throughout Ryan Leech Connection's online courses.

World-class professional freeride and trials mountain bike rider Jeff Lenosky has a new video out showing him riding technical sections with flats, even though he himself ALWAYS rides clipped in. https://youtu.be/dRmnej4W8WU He writes:

"Learning to ride flat pedals is a skill every mountain biker looking to ride technical terrain should practice. Ride along with me on my favorite local technical trail while I give you my top tips for riding flat pedals. Inside I'll give you tips on foot position, gear choice, saddle height and using your upper body to control the bike!"

VIDEO: HOW TO GET MORE HEIGHT IN YOUR BUNNY HOPS

I need to work on adding height to my newbie bunny hop ability so this Dirt School video caught my eye.
https://youtu.be/TNs44AzV7K4

I like the emphasis on "setting up lower to make the most of your push."

When I look at Lesson 23 (adding height) of Ryan K Leech's Bunny Hop Master Class, he says:

"Your height potential is partly correlated to how high you jump on your feet. You need the same jumping velocity on the bike as you would if you were jumping off the ground on your feet. Not only that, but at the top of the jump you need to suck-up your legs."

I gotta learn that! I've included a couple of screenshots from the video of Ryan's Lesson 23 in the attached comments.

FYI, to learn more about his Bunny Hop Master Class, see the info page (my affiliate link) on it at:

The course can be purchased on its own. Or you can get access to it when you purchase a monthly or annual membership:

Andy teaches you how to get more height in your bunny hops by setting up lower to make the most of your push. Need more help? Book a course here - https://ww...
