The reason your thighs won’t change shape has nothing to do with how hard you’re working.
Working your inner thighs doesn’t just change your inner thighs.
It changes your outer thighs too.
Here’s why. The adductors — the muscles running from your hip to your inner knee — pull the leg inward. When they get stronger and more defined, the whole thigh tapers.
Most workouts never reach the adductors. Squats load the quad. Lunges load the hip flexor. The inner thigh just stays quiet.
Bar Method thigh work changes the angle so the adductors can’t avoid the work. Then you hold — at maximum tension — until the muscle has nowhere to go.
Most women feel it in their first class and say the same thing. “I didn’t even know that muscle could be sore.”

Squats are not the answer for most women.

Not because squats are bad. Because squats load the quads and the lower back. If your glutes are not already firing, squats reinforce the compensation pattern. You get stronger in the wrong places.

Three things Bar Method seat work does that squats cannot.

One. The angle targets the glute medius and the deep stabilizers that squats miss. The muscle has nowhere to hide.

Two. There is no momentum. You hold at the point of fatigue. The glute cannot borrow from anything else.

Three. You feel the difference immediately. Not a general burn. A specific one. In the right place.

This is not about avoiding squats. It is about building the foundation first so that squats actually reach the muscle they are supposed to.

Your glutes are the biggest muscle in your body. They are probably not firing.

Here is what actually happens during the seat section of every Bar Method class.

The position changes which muscle has to work. You are not squatting. You are not lunging. The angle isolates the glute from the quad so the right muscle takes the load. No momentum. No way to borrow from the hip flexor or the lower back.

Then the hold. Isometric contraction at the point of fatigue. The glute medius, the deep stabilizers, the muscles running and squats tend to skip. They cannot hide in this position.

Most women who take their first class here feel it instantly. Not a general lower body burn. A specific, unfamiliar one. In the right place.

That is what changes your posture. Your back. The way your hips move.

If I could tell my 25-year-old self one thing about fitness, it would be this:

Running is building your cardiovascular system while quietly breaking everything else.
