The girls Outdoor Track team beat the much larger Mahar team 66-62 yesterday! The boys Track team had some impressive individual performances as well against Mahar and Tech!
Highlights from the Boys Team:
- Tyler came in second in the long jump at 17' 6.5" and shortly after PRed in the 400m (58.98)
- Jovani and Griffin both improved on their Javelin throws with two new PRs.
- Jovani PRed in the 200m with a time of 32.64
- The 4x100 team (Lorenzo, Matt, Tyler and Carter) improved their 4x100m time over the previous meet by 1.5 seconds.
- Lorenzo PRed in the long jump (15'2") and competed in the 400m hurdles for the first time since last year and set a PR (1:12.03).
- Carter won the high jump with a 6'2" jump, tying the school outdoor record!
Girls team highlights:
- The girls 4x100m team also improved their time from the previous week by over 2 seconds and completely smoked the other teams. (Addy, Amelia, Sophia and Maddie - 56.71)
- A last minute decision to get Liliana and Maddie into the 400m gave the team a critical 8 points needed against Mahar. Liliana came in first (1:11.94) and Maddie in second (1:14.78) with two very fast times.
- Harper won the 800m (2:46) and the Mile (5:55) and also beat most of the boys from both schools in both events.
- Addy once again won the 200m (30.66) after placing 3rd in the 100m and setting a new PR of 14.48
- Mystic (32.36) and Liliana (32.82) were right behind Addy in the 200m with a third and fourth place finish, giving the team some much needed points. Oliva set a PR of 34.17 and Esme improved her time to 36.57 for the season in the 200m.
- Hannah and Liliana came in 2nd and 3rd in the 100m hurdles, both breaking 20 seconds and Liliana setting a new PR.
- On the throwing side, Serenity and Elisa both set PRs on the shot put and Esme and Elisa both managed to get PRs on discus!
- The Pioneer girls team had a great showing at the Javelin as well with a 4th and 5th place finish overall for Serenity and Joslynn respectively. Joslynn hit a huge PR of 63' putting her at number 5 for 7th graders in the State!
- Elisa, Amelia and Olivia all had big PRs in the Javelin as well.
- There was a great show at the triple jump with Sophia not only breaking the 30' barrier she was targeting, but hitting an impressive 31' 2.5", placing her at #1 in the meet. Emma also had a very good performance on the triple jump and hit a PR of 25' 3.25"
- Emma and Joslynn also PRed in the 100m dash.
- The final event, the 4x400, almost didn't happen due to injury. However, Esme put the ice cream in the cooler on hold and jumped into the 4x400 at the last minute and the team managed to get 5 points in the 4x400, clinching the win!
