There’s a special kind of pride that comes from stepping back as a parent and watching your child do something they weren’t sure they could do.

You see the nerves. You see the hesitation. You see them hit the water, struggle a little, and wonder if they really want to try again.

Then they do.

And eventually, they’re up.

But the best part isn’t even watching them get up on the water skis. It’s seeing that nervousness turn into a huge smile when they realize they’re actually having fun.

Those are the moments when you realize how much they’re growing. Sometimes our job is just to give them the opportunity, step out of the way, and let them surprise themselves.

A huge thank you again to the Oxbow Water Ski Team for giving our Scouts that opportunity. Their facility is awesome, their shows are incredible, and most importantly, the people are simply the best. The patience, encouragement, and time they gave our Scouts made this an experience they won’t soon forget.

We really can’t thank the Oxbow Water Ski Team enough for welcoming Troop 260 and Troop 262 and helping make memories like these possible.

40th Eastern Regional Tournament Weekend

It was an honor to host the 40th Eastern Regional Show Ski Tournament, which began at our home site. We have proudly hosted 34 of those tournaments and have won 20 of them!

Oxbow won first place overall!

Through dedication and hard work, we also earned many of the specialty awards that hold a special place in our hearts.

Cam McNeill Highest-Scoring Tow Boat Driving
It was especially meaningful to win this trophy in its inaugural year, honoring our beloved teammate, Cam McNeill. We are fortunate to have an incredible group of drivers who put in countless hours to help our team succeed.

Wayne Payeur Highest-Scoring Male Act – Backward Barefoot Circles
This award honors one of our team’s and the tournament’s founders, whose children and grandchildren continue to participate today. Clay and Taylor diligently practice this act, which requires tremendous strength, stamina, and a highly skilled driver capable of navigating four or more circles.

Katherine “Spitfire” Mauke Award – Best Showmanship
This award honors one of our teammates whose life was taken far too soon. She brought unmatched energy, enthusiasm, and spirit to everything she did, and her legacy continues to inspire us.

Ma Weakley Award
This award honors the matriarch of the Weakley family. Through the hard work of many of her 14 children and grandchildren, the Riverhouse Ski Team—now known as Electric City—was established. Her legacy lives on through her granddaughter, Nikki, on Electric City, and her son, Dave, on Oxbow. We were honored to receive this award for the highest-scoring act of the entire tournament with our Backward Barefoot Circles act.

Betty Bonifay Highest-Scoring Female Act
Our ballet line earned this prestigious award. Their dedication throughout the year was evident in their flawless performances, both on stage and on the water.

Additionally, we earned the Highest-Scoring Sound Crew award! Great job to John, Eleanor, Becci, Brie, Tyler, and Cassidy!

On Saturday, during the individual act competition, Oxbow members had an outstanding showing:

2nd place-Swivel open: Hailee

Also participating in individuals from Oxbow were Cordelia, Brayden, Cassy & Adrian, Ryan O & Kyle!

A special shout-out to our Tug-of-War champions, Adrian and Cassy for taking on—and defeating—the Nautique!
