Shadow Knives, LLC RETIRED Knife Maker Eddie White is the force behind Shadow Knives, making custom handmade knives There's a little bit of me in each blade I make.

RETIRED- May put up a knife or two once in a while here for sale
For almost 40 years, I have worked in the Shadows and helped to build fine reputations for some great companies by doing piece work, production work, finish work, right up to full custom work. Everything used to be proudly labeled "Made in the USA" and the like, but it seems so many good designs go the way of overseas production. So,

I decided the time has come to step out of the shadows and put my abilities as a knifemaker to the test. My creations are what happens when a Southern-American craftsman combines simplistic form with function. Making knives is not just what I do for a living; It's my purest passion. Every knife is 100% guaranteed in 2 ways- They are 100% handmade- right down to the pins, springs and bolsters AND they are 100% guaranteed (as long as you use them for their intended purposes) for as long as I am alive. Handles are made from a variety of materials, and range from the finest stags and hardwoods to a variety of Micartas. I make all of my knives with stock removal method. All are a hollow-grind, unless a customer requests otherwise. I do my own heat-treating and prefer 440-C Stainless, but do use other steels when requested, when possible.

If you zoom in on this knife, you’ll notice YOU FOUND YOURS engraved on it. It was made and given to me by my Uncle Eddie and I’ve had the thing for probably 10 years, but never noticed it until last January while I was sitting in the deer stand. I’m not sure what made him put that on there, but once I saw it, I knew I had to use it in a song.

I ran across this post today and thought I'd share. Being retired, I've forgotten about some of the beasts and beauts I've made.

Folks, I wanted to share something with you that my customer sent to Lora and me. I have made yet another fighter that's going overseas with one of our bravest, finest young men. (I have lost count as to how many have went with our servicemen.) He will be presented this piece shortly and I can't wait to hear if he likes it or not.

Anyway, the great guy that had this made for him sent us this email and it choked me up a little, I must admit. I went into this business to make money, but I had no idea I would be making a difference.

"The knife is unlike anything I've seen before in terms of beauty. I am beyond words and cannot wait to present this warrior's blade to the one man I know that will put it to good use. He will be over the moon. Thank you to you and Eddie for looking out for our veterans. I will ask him to share a photo for your scrap book when he gets to where he is going. Thanks again and thank you for your service Eddie. I'll let you know once received."

I had to chuckle at my wife. I thought of Jeff Foxworthy type posts.

You may be married to a knife maker if you have to say this before loaning your car:

"Down in your map compartment is a knife in a sheath, dangerous weapon. Serrated on one side, gut hook on the other. Do not touch the edges! They have p**p on them. In case you cut someone and they don't die, the infection WILL kill them."
