I've been thinking long and hard about a lot about how to tell our wonderful customers why we have closed our location. I've been quiet, I've been respectful, I've been praying to God to lead us in our next direction. As a business owner I have thought different things, as a person of God and how people should be treated is another. It doesn't matter what kind of business you own or have, you should always treat other businesses and people with the respect you would want someone to give you. As far as us we have always tried to support every small business, whether it was hanging up their cards for others to see and grab, have their products in our store, or if we didn't have something we would point customers in the direction to other stores/ small businesses. As we all know the town of North is small, not much there, but you can see the towns people trying to make us bigger and add more.
A lot has been running through my mind. How to feel, what to do, how to handle everything that's going on, and how to explain to my customers why we had to close so quickly. I have had a lot of questions, a lot of sad customers, a lot of whys and I had no idea the best way to explain at the time.
Most people are thinking we couldn't afford it, which was not the case. Some people think it's because it was a lot on me with 2 babies (it was a lot) but honestly I loved every second up at the store. I loved talking to all of you. Most of us knew each others names and y'all even knew my babies names. Some people knew I had bad diabetic issues and knew it was hard for me to even have the will to get out of bed. Honestly none of these were the issues.
Starters we did have to close the store quickly, it was definitely not something we were told in advance and not something we were given a heads up on. The thrift store beside us ended up offering a better rent payment to the owner of the building, which kicked us out, but one of them would constantly come into our store and scope it out and not really say a word just look. (I had a feeling when I started seeing that something was up but kind of ignored that thought In my head) So when we heard the news, we started putting things on sale, sold our bigger items, we didn't have room to store at our home, did lives and did all we could do to get everything out by Sunday. Sunday we were at the store from 8 in the morning to 7 in the afternoon, we didn't have anything to eat, we were all on a mission. We were so tired we ended up leaving a cabinet, a hot wheels thing (both as which has been sold to customers) and a few trash bags of our trash. We knew we were gonna finish up the last bit on Monday because we technically had till the end of september. So Monday comes around and we get up at 8 to go back down to the store to get the remainder of our things and to clean out our trash from the building. When we got there we saw a lock on the front door with our things still inside, a lock we did not put on the door, we went next door to the thrift store, and I kindly asked is this y'all's lock, the 3 people working kept saying no oh no that's not ours must be the building owner. They offered to call or text her, but of course I had her number, so I called and sent her a message. From there, I left to do a little circle around, to turn around my car and there was the two men from the thrift store at our door and long behold my front store door was unlocked. I decided not to do nothing and get the remainder of our things bc we are business owners and we do not do ugly. We strive for better. Even though what happen was not the right way to do things, we all need to treat others with respect, be the bigger person, be better than the wronged, because at the end of the day we have to answer to God and to others what we do in life. The devil will always try to push you and make you do things you know thats not right.
We are continuing to update the website and I'm willing to do local meetings with all of you or ship items. We will continue to look for a new location. Somewhere with better parking for all of you. Some where for the babies to play and have their own little space to have fun and watch their TV. We know this sucks, for now, but we will make our comeback to y'all, we will strive for bigger and better things for y'all.
I also wanna say a huge thank you to all of our customers. Y'all are the best! Remember it's just a bye for now, we will see y'all later. ❤️
