Shaw team is bravest of all
League golfers braved the scorching heat and a discombobulated hole setup Sept. 2. The bravest of all was the Josh “Back from Bonnie Scotland” Shaw trio which notched an impressive 29 points for the evening’s best score. The Bill “‘Wrench Turner” Browning and Steve “CMA Fest Veteran” Schmidt crews shared the b***y prize as each struggled to tally 14 points.
Corey “Wonder Who Blacktopped the Cart Paths” O’Mara and Darrel “Hotter than U-Know-What” Kemmerer birdied Nos. 4 and 17, respectively, to collect skins. Dave “Samson’s Master” Coquerille drew the blind
Trent “A True Gent” Hughes and Larry “Wyaloosing Wizard” Foga picked up closest-to-the-pin wampum on Nos. 2 and 4, respectively.
Two weeks remain in the regular season. The top 16 teams will advance to the postseason single-elimination tournament that starts Sept. 22. The bottom eight crews will sit on the sidelines, though maybe some will hit the range and/or simulator to prepare for next season.
Here are the standings after 15 weeks (points, which are based on Stableford best-ball scoring, are accumulated each week) with updated handicaps in parentheses. Teams are listed by captains’ names.

Keener trio sails on
The Rob “Royal Caribbean Veteran” Keener crew picked up where it left off Aug. 25 after a two-week weather delay. The trio again had the best score of the evening with 29 points, climbing from 16th to fourth place in two evenings of play.
In stark contrast, the short-handed Josh “Scotland Highlander” Shaw team turned in a paltry 10 points to take home the b***y prize.
Dave “I Miss Otter Creek” Elliott deposited two skins with birdies on Nos. 1 and 4. Baron “The Red” Wilder also collected a skin with a birdie on No. 2. Jason “Between the Vernon Curves” Gosman drew the blind.

Fix is on for Keener crew
Some sand bunkers were out of play because of maintenance work to fix drainage issues during competition Aug. 4. That hardly bothered the Rob “The Press Fixer” Keener team which racked up a week’s best 28 points.
Meanwhile, Eric “I’m Back after Breaking My Back” Johnson and company played like they were mired in quicksand en route to the night’s worst production of a mere 14 points.
Pat “Amateur Wildlife Manager” York, Jandro “Professional Wildlife Manager” Galvan and Ed “Angie’s Team Can Pack a Punch, Too!” Whitaker pocketed skins with birdies on Nos. 2, 3 and 6, respectively. Shawn “Who You Calling ‘King Pickle’?” Gerkin drew the blind.

Ellison, Shaw teams eat it up
Before enjoying a scrumptious meal from Old Man BBQ, league golfers feasted on the St. Annes course July 28.
The back nine proved most tasty for the Bart “Why Can’t Sprint Week Last Forever?” Ellison and Josh “No More Bait at My Front Door” Shaw trios, each posting the evening’s top score of 29 points.
The b***y prize was tough and chewy for four teams that carded a lackluster 17 points apiece: Rob “Gotta Love Skagway” Keener, Bryce “Hoosier Granddaddy” Mayer, Jeff “I Always Go to the Brickyard 400” O’Connor and Ed “Ex-Schoolmaster” Whitaker.
Bryce “Please Spell My Name Right” Wrightsman cashed in for skins not only with an eagle on the par-5 12th hole and a birdie on the par-4 No. 15, but also closest-to-the-pin money on No. 11 (where his birdie was cut).
Joey “I’m No Baby Kangaroo” Napier and Ray “Beware of the Hardwood Raiders” Gunter also gained skins with birdies on Nos. 14 and 18, respectively. Tony “Nothing Like Big Sky Country” McDaniel drew the blind. Adam “Swing Coach” Leach collected closest-to-the-pin dough on No. 13.

Campbell team turbo charges front 9
The clouds split to keep St. Annes high and dry for league play July 21. The Joe “Turbo Charged” Campbell trio split the fairways en route to a week’s best 29 points. At the other end of the spectrum, the Jeff “Boycotting the Brickyard This Weekend” O’Connor limped in with a paltry 13 points to get the b***y prize.
Larry “More Walking Than Running These Days” Foga eagled the par-4 No. 3 hole for the evening’s most impressive skin. Joe “Who Killed the Grass?” Kelley birdied No. 7 to cash in a skin. Trent “Brand Spanking New Sub” Hughes drew the blind.
Ray “Love Watching Blake Dunk” Gunter and Brent “My Dog Wants to Hunt” Bailey earned closest-to-the-pin bread on Nos. 2 and 4, respectively.

Kelley trio sweats out a big night
On a sweltering evening that made grown golfers cry, not to mention sweat away multiple pounds of body fat, one team rose above the rest June 30. The Jack “Failed to Predict All the Political Carnage” Kelley trio amassed a week’s best 28 points.
At the bottom end of the totem pole, the Josh “Watch Out for Choo Choos in My Front Yard” Shaw crew had a 13-point meltdown to take the night’s b***y prize.
Jason “Duck Duck Goose Goose” Gosman headlined the skins competition with a chip-in eagle on the par-5 9th hole. Darrel “Handicap Hanky Panky” Kemmerer won two skins with birdies on Nos. 1 and 7 while Rob “Pup’s Favorite Ex-Teammate” Keener birdied No. 5 for a skin of his own. Ron “Why Do I Have an ‘R’ Name?” Sanders drew the blind.
Greg “Mr. Twister” Huelson and Brian “Things Could be Hearse” Sawyer profited from closest-to-the-pin shots on Nos. 2 and 4, respectively.
