Everything we’ve seen so far has us excited for the season ahead. Bait is stacked up, whales are showing in big numbers, and the fishery feels alive already. With the regulations back to where they should be, we’re hopeful the bluefin make an early appearance and get things rolling fast.

Of course, tuna don’t always follow the script, but the signs are encouraging. June 1st can’t get here soon enough. Who’s ready to go? 🎣🔥

Long time ago the first tuna came over the rail

This was my first bluefin. (Don’t judge the belt placement, I had no idea of where it should go)

I had spent a season and a half chasing them with nothing to show for it. We saw fish, marked fish… just couldn’t connect. Looking back, I was impatient, rigged wrong, and always chasing the “next best thing” instead of dialing in what actually worked.

This fish was 65” and took me just over an hour to land—way longer than it should have. But at the time, I didn’t know any better. It was my first.

Even now, after all these years, I’m still learning and evolving every season.

That’s exactly why I started Bluefin Plus.

Our jig bite can be a little crazy

We were jigging a few hundred yards apart east of the Cape when it all went sideways. Ray Jarvis hooks up—and then doubles. At the same time, we’re tight on one. Three tuna on, and somehow every single one of them decides to run straight at the other boat.

We go boat-to-boat, swap rods mid-fight, rotate around each other to clear the lines, then swap back—all while these fish are doing whatever they want underneath us.

Total mayhem for a few minutes… but somehow, we kept it clean.

Is it June yet? I’m overly optimistic with this cold winter that we’re going to see an early arrival. The last winter we had that was this cold was followed by an incredibly early and productive tuna season. Going farther than usual but they were there every day, and hungry!!!

We decided after a lot of demand to open 2 Fridays per month for open boats. Each open boat will take up to 4 guys.

July 10 & 24
August 14 & 28
Sept 10 (11 is booked already) & 25
Oct 9 & 23

As always open boats pop up occasionally due to last minute cancellations but we figured to put some on the calendar so guys can plan ahead!!!

Absolute mayhem. Doubled on giants and zero room for anything but watching it unfold through the zoom.
Outermost Angling Charters pushed up and came tight on a quality rec fish right in the mix.
