🏃‍♂️🏅 Governor’s Games: 4 Things Every Athlete Should Remember When There Are Preliminary Rounds & Finals an/or Multiple Competition Days.

Our next meet is a little different than most meets. When there are preliminary rounds and finals, success isn’t just about speed—it’s about strategy, preparation, and mindset.

1️⃣ Run for Time, Not Place
You don’t control what heat you’re in, so don’t get caught up in who you’re racing. Focus on running through the finish line and putting yourself in position to qualify. In prelims, the goal is simple: advance. Run strong all the way through the line and let the clock do the work.

2️⃣ Anything Can Happen
Forget the seed times and forget where someone was ranked coming in. Every race is a new opportunity. The athletes who make finals are the ones who show up and perform on that day. Stay focused on your race and your ex*****on.

3️⃣ Hydration Starts Before Meet Day
If you’re waiting until race day to start hydrating, you’re already behind. Drink water consistently throughout the week and make sure you’re fueling your body with quality meals. Two-day meets demand more from your body than a typical competition.

4️⃣ Recovery Matters
Day 1 isn’t over when you leave the track. Cool down, stretch, hydrate, eat a balanced meal, and prioritize recovery so your body is ready to compete again the next day. The athletes who recover well often perform better in the finals.

Most importantly, trust your training. Stay focused, stay confident, and compete one round at a time.

What if the North Shore had a place built just for athletes, families, and the community to come together? 💜🏟️

A place where kids could train, compete, and feel like professional athletes… while parents relax, eat, watch the games on big screens, and enjoy the atmosphere together.

This concept was created from a vision bigger than just sports. We wanted to imagine a space that gives young athletes opportunities, confidence, structure, community, and unforgettable experiences — all under one roof.

⚡ Speed and sports performance training lanes
⚡ Weekend leagues and recreational competitions
⚡ Family-friendly restaurant and patio viewing areas

Congratulations to DeShawn Lewis for achieving outstanding academic excellence by being awarded the Principal's award for straight A's all year as well as the Most Outstanding Student Award in his regular and Gifted classes.

Lewis represents the true meaning of Student-Athlete as academics lays the foundation especially in higher learning.
