Burning Phoenix Taekwon-Do sadly extends their condolences to the family, friends, and Taekwon-Do brethren over the loss of Senior Grand Master Charles E. Sereff.

Senior Grand Master Sereff's contributions to the art of Taekwon-Do are too numerous to list. His influence on our school will always be felt and appreciated.

Our warmest wishes to all of the people who will miss him. He was a living treasure, and the loss is immeasurable.

A big congratulations to Mr. Vanous and Mr. O'Neil on their recent promotion! These young men have shown excellent dedication in the online classes that we've moved to during this pandemic, and their hard work has earned them their new rank. Great job, gentlemen!

New year, new bloom on the rose from the back bathroom at the Nest! Like many of us, this rose has been through a lot of struggles this year. But here it is, entering the new year with its best face forward, ready to persevere through whatever comes next!

Just like that, the holiday season is suddenly upon us, and it's time once again for our school to take its winter break! We'd just like to take a moment to recognize some of our students who have made some pretty awesome accomplishments this year:

Ms. Bunch, who completed her Associate Degree in Graphic Communications.

Mrs. Stevens, who has completed all requirements to become a Certified Public Accountant.

Mr. Haynes, who has finished a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science.

Ms. Williams, who has finished a Bachelor Degree in Psychology.

We're proud of all of the hard work and effort that everyone has put in this year, to continue to grow and achieve goals despite the additional challenges that the pandemic has thrown at us. Burning Phoenix students are amazing! We're so happy to have each and every one of you in our Taekwon-Do family!

We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Have a great holiday break, and we look forward to seeing everyone back in virtual classes on January 4th!

Today is the 7-year anniversary of our school location! Traditionally we would have had a party to celebrate this milestone. We'll just have to celebrate twice as hard next year!

It looks like our building sign got struck by lightning during the storm last night! The sign has served us well for almost 7 years now, and had already faded and color-shifted quite a bit. This just encourages us to get a replacement once we're back to in-person classes. But we might want to hang on to the sign that was touched by lightning!

We're sad that we can not have our usual Summer Camp this year, but we can still have a camp shirt! Celebrate "camp" from wherever you are with an official camp shirt! As per usual - it glows in the dark! Place your order by Wednesday, August 12th.

Tomorrow would have been the first day of our annual Burning Phoenix Taekwon-Do Summer Camp. Of course, with circumstances being what they are, we do not feel it would be safe to hold camp this year. But we are STILL going to have shirts!

While previous years' camps were only open to Burning Phoenix students, this year's first ever "Home Camp" is open to any and all who would like to join! Please go to the following link to order your own shirt and have it shipped directly to you.

Part of the motivation for the theme of this year's shirt is the recent passing of Grand Master Paul DeBaca, IX Dan. In one of his last messages to the USTF he said:

"Please tell everyone this stuff [Corona Virus] is indiscriminate, and doesn't care who or what we are. It attacks everyone. And please encourage everyone to take care."

It is in that spirit that we have added the message "Practice Breath Control - Wear a Mask" to our shirt, as a reminder to do our part by exercising Self-Control to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

The mini rose has a new pot! She has been getting a bit yellow and brown in the leaves, despite Ms. Bunch keeping her on the same feeding schedule. One theory is that the spike in heat has meant she's getting too much sun. Ms. Bunch is hoping she just wanted some leg room. Any suggestions, Mr. Chavez?

We are very sad to relay the news that Grand Master De Baca passed away yesterday from COVID-19. Grand Master De Baca was a great man. Mrs. and Mr. Gemmell have spoken often of his kindness, character, expertise, and eagerness to share his knowledge of Taekwon-Do with others. He will be very sorely missed.

THE ROSE HAS BLOOMED!!! A big thank you to Mr. Chavez and his Master Gardener skills for recommending feeding it. Ms. Bunch brought the rose outside for some glamor shots, you can see it has several buds happening.
