Congratulations to Katie and Shaun!
Today was beautiful, and incredibly hard all at once.
For over 10 years, Katie has been more than just a coworker at the gym . she became part of my family, one of the constants in my life. We lived through so much together: the pandemic, hurricanes, stressful days, happy moments, heartbreak, exhaustion, and all the unpredictable ups and downs life can bring. Through it all, she was there.
There were some of the hardest moments in my life where I truly don’t know how I would have made it through without her friendship, her support, her listening ear, and simply her presence. Some people come into your life for a minute, but Katie became part of my everyday life and part of my heart.
Today, I had the honor of marrying her and her fiancé, and watching them stand together filled me with so much love and pride. Seeing how deeply they love each other made this day even more special.
But if I’m honest, it’s also heartbreaking knowing she is moving away. It’s hard to imagine the gym, my routine, or life in general without her there. Nothing will ever feel quite the same. Some people leave a mark on your life so deep that their absence changes everything and that’s what this feels like.
Even though my heart is hurting knowing this chapter is ending, I couldn’t wish for anything more beautiful for her. She deserves happiness, peace, adventure, and a love that makes her feel safe every single day.
Katie, thank you for standing beside me during some of the worst times in my life. Thank you for the laughs, the talks, the strength, and the friendship that carried me through more than you’ll probably ever know.
I wish you both a lifetime of love and beautiful memories. No matter where. Near or far, you will always be deeply loved and deeply missed.
