Supportive Parents Make This Possible!

At Total Martial Arts & Fitness, we’re fortunate to have some truly amazing families behind our students. Their support, encouragement, and commitment make a huge difference in their children’s journey.

For over 23 years, we have had the privilege of training students right here in North Port. During that time, we’ve watched generations of students walk through our doors, learn Taekwondo, build confidence and discipline, and grow into strong young adults.

One of the things we’re most proud of is having students who have trained with us for years. Watching them progress through the ranks, overcome challenges, and continue to grow is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

That success is also built on the dedication of our trained and experienced instructors, who work with our students every week to help them develop both their Taekwondo skills and their character.

Leading our program is Grandmaster Tim Steger, a 7th Dan internationally certified Kukkiwon/GTTF Grandmaster, bringing more than three decades of martial arts experience to the instruction and development of our students.

And behind so many of those students are parents who make sure they get to class, encourage them when things get difficult, celebrate their accomplishments, and continue to believe in them.

Thank you to all of our Total families! Your support, along with the dedication of our instructors, has helped make it possible for us to serve and train the North Port community for more than 23 years.

Strong families build stronger students!

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR ADULT BELT TESTING STUDENTS! 🥋

A huge congratulations to all of our adult students who stepped onto the floor this weekend for their belt testing!

Testing takes commitment, preparation, discipline, and perseverance, and our adult students demonstrated all of these qualities throughout the process.

It takes dedication to make Taekwondo part of your life, especially while balancing work, family, and other responsibilities. Every class attended, every technique practiced, and every challenge overcome brings you one step closer to your goals.

We are extremely proud of the effort you put into your training and the progress you continue to make. Your journey is a great example that it is never too late to challenge yourself, learn something new, and become better than you were yesterday.

👏 Great job, everyone! Keep training and keep moving forward!

🎉 CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF OUR ADULT STUDENTS ON A JOB WELL DONE! 🎉

Honor. Respect. Remember.

From photographer Gary Adams Artwork:

'Flags of Valor is a large-scale, volunteer-built memorial on Art Hill in St. Louis’s Forest Park that honors the 2,977 people killed on September 11, 2001, first responders who died that day, and U.S. service members killed in the subsequent War on Terror.

It is organized by the Kirkwood-based nonprofit America’s Heartland Remembers, founded by Rick and Susie Randall. They were inspired by a Pepperdine University hillside display of flags for 9/11 victims and decided Art Hill’s slope would work well for something similar in St. Louis. The first installation went up in 2011 for the 10th anniversary, with 2,977 flags representing those killed in the attacks.

The display has returned every five years since:
2016 (15th anniversary): expanded to 6,869 flags to include service members killed in the War on Terror.
2021 (20th anniversary): roughly 7,500–7,582 flags.
2026 (25th anniversary, Sept. 5–13): 7,620 flags, including 18 for service members killed earlier in 2026 during Operation Epic Fury.

Each flag typically carries a photograph and a dog tag with the person’s name, rank, branch or department, and date of death. First-responder flags are often placed near the Grand Basin at the base of the hill; civilian 9/11 victims are also commemorated with large photo boards. More than 1,200 volunteers assemble and plant the flags by hand across about 10 acres an effort that uses thousands of poles, miles of rows, and tons of materials. The memorial is free and open during park hours. The next planned display is for the 30th anniversary in 2031.'

BUILD SKILL. BUILD CONFIDENCE. BUILD CHARACTER.

Our Children’s Sparring Classes are where students put their Taekwondo skills into action!

Sparring teaches children much more than how to kick and punch. It helps them develop:

• Confidence
• Focus and discipline
• Speed and coordination
• Timing and reaction
• Respect for others
• The ability to stay calm under pressure
• Sportsmanship and perseverance

Our students learn to challenge themselves, work with their training partners, and grow stronger both on and off the mat.

Train hard. Stay focused. Never give up. 🥋

💙 Jonah is showing us what dedication looks like! 💙

Even while recovering from a broken collarbone, Jonah is still finding ways to stay connected to his Taekwondo training by practicing at home and working toward his goals! 🥋

We are so proud of his positive attitude and determination. Recovery comes first, but seeing him continue to stay motivated and focused is truly inspiring!

Keep up the great work, Jonah! We can’t wait to see you back on the mats when you’re fully healed! 💪🥋

This month at Total Martial Arts & Fitness, our Word of the Month is Physical Fitness!

Physical fitness is an important part of becoming a stronger and better Taekwondo student. Staying active helps improve your strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, speed, and overall performance in class.

Here are a few great ways to stay physically fit and improve your Taekwondo training:

• 🥋 Attend Taekwondo classes consistently
• 🚶 Go for walks, runs, or bike rides
• 💪 Practice strength exercises such as push-ups and sit-ups
• 🤸 Stretch regularly to improve flexibility
