Attention alligator hunters! 🐊

Applications for both the Statewide Alligator Harvest Program and the NEW Alligator Super Hunt open this Friday, May 3, at 10 a.m. ET. Applications may be submitted at any county tax collector's office, license agent, or online at GoOutdoorsFlorida.com.

What’s the main difference between these two opportunities? The Alligator Super Hunt is more like winning the lottery – you can pay to apply as many times as you want to increase your chances of being randomly drawn – and the Statewide Alligator Harvest Program is a random draw among applicants that can only apply one time.

Each hunting opportunity allows you to harvest two alligators, and hunting is authorized on alligator management units and private property (with owner permission). Statewide Alligator Harvest Program participants can hunt from a single alligator management unit or county, while Alligator Super Hunt participants can harvest their alligators from most alligator management units. In addition, the Alligator Super Hunt allows 10 more weeks of hunting than the traditional statewide hunt.

For more information about both opportunities, visit MyFWC.com/Alligator.

New CWD Regulations

The FWC recently issued an executive order establishing new CWD regulations for next deer season. New regulations include:

• The feeding of deer within the CWD Management Zone will be allowed only during the deer hunting season.
• The take of antlerless deer will be allowed during the entire deer season in Deer Management Unit D2.
• Up to three antlerless deer, as part of the statewide annual bag limit of five, may be taken in DMU D2.

These rules do not apply to WMAs.

Hunting in Zone C?

You might encounter collared or ear-tagged deer while hunting in Zone C, but don’t worry, you can still legally harvest them!

These deer may be found at Osceola WMA and surrounding areas or in the counties surrounding Ordway-Swisher Biological Station, which include Putnam, Clay, and Alachua. They’re a part of a research project that includes investigating deer mortality. If the deer would be legal to harvest otherwise, we encourage hunters to not let the presence of a collar or ear tags impact their decision.

If you harvest a deer with a collar or ear tags, call 352-334-4211 or 352-226-0753 as soon as possible after the harvest. Ear tags and collars also have a phone number that you can call on weekends.
