If you're training hard and not seeing results, your sleep might be the reason.

For men in their late forties and fifties, the things wrecking sleep are almost always the same. Alcohol in the evening, cortisol that never comes down, and a nervous system still replaying the four o'clock meeting at midnight.

Poor sleep doesn't just leave you tired. It inhibits protein synthesis, raises cortisol, lowers testosterone, and suppresses recovery from your training. If you're putting in the work and the results aren't showing up, your recovery is probably undoing it.

Most of the executives I work with see their training results accelerate once we address sleep. Not with a supplement. With structure.

Nutrition on the road isn't a discipline problem. It's a logistics problem.

Client dinners, back to back meetings, travel days where you don't eat until 7pm and then eat whatever's in front of you. There's no structure, so hunger makes the decision for you.

The fix isn't a perfect meal plan. It's three or four decisions made in advance that remove the need to think in the moment.

What does your first meal look like on a meeting-heavy day. What is your default when you're traveling. What happens when a meeting runs late.

Simple, consistent anchors. That's the difference between the men who stay sharp and the ones who don't.

High volume, high intensity, push through the soreness. That worked when recovery was fast and cortisol was manageable.

At fifty the equation changes. More volume means more cortisol. More cortisol means disrupted sleep and less recovery. You're not getting stronger. You're just accumulating fatigue.

The men I work with who get the best results aren't training the hardest. They're training the smartest. Fewer movements, heavier loads, longer recovery. A structure that accounts for the neurological demand of running a company at a high level.

Strength responds to quality. Your nervous system responds to recovery. Respect both and the body follows.
