Slowly but surely on the mend. Lesson learned over the past 12 days: RECOVER, & REST…if you don’t take time for it, your body will do it for you.
Until I got sick with the flu, I hadn’t taken a single day off since the beginning of Sept, picked up subs for my teammates, taught 2 seminars & spent several weekends working 12 hr days…as much as I love my job sometimes I forget that recovery, is a part of the program…I have paid a heavy price for it. Still today, day 13, am struggling to breathe properly, taking oral steroids for my lungs, an antiviral and a slew of meds to mitigate symptoms; all this bc my immune system was in a state of fight or flight and I had no more fight in me. Focusing on myself, my health and my family, what really matters, while finding balance to do what I LOVE.

I ran into this picture in the cloud today from Sept 25th, 2017. It reminds me of how many times, I’ve encountered awesome humans in my fitness journey. These days were the bomb! I have nothing but the fondest memories from these Muy Thai nights, watching my kid gain confidence & on Tuesday nights mom became a bad a$$ herself. Thank you Kru Joe Chao for the lifetime core memories. North Carolina is lucky to have you 🙏 😓 🤗

Blah Blah Blah, just wanted to post a throwback 🤪 The human body is so amazing...it's surreal I will be delivering a lil bean in 3 weeks. I will rebuild this body in my 40s: spiritually, patiently, & kindly.

As we get ready to become parents for a 2nd time (after 10 yrs! a little rusty) I can't but help to feel ever so grateful to the Universe for allowing us the privilege of bringing life & expanding our little family---even if a bit later in life than planned.

We can't wait to meet our little man, & in a little over 3 weeks this dream will become our reality & we'll be able to hold our son in our arms. Our hearts are full when we see our 10 yr old, filled with excitement, anxiety & sheer joy of preparing for this new chapter.

Thank you everyone, for your well wishes & generosity in advance, it does take a village. Thank you to our families both here & around the world. (But especially my sister in law who's just the best!). Grateful for my sister friends, you are my rocks 😘 A grand thank you to all my students, for all their patience & kindness...I will be cheering your fitness journeys from the sidelines for a bit but I'll be back soon.

This isn't a Throwback! Just a random ramble on a Thursday morning.

As my body changes, my mind races between beautiful & dire thoughts. — Although I KNOW these changes are natural, some days I struggle with keeping a positive body image during my pregnancy.

Between stretch marks, weight gain, and hormonal side effects, the body is bound to change during pregnancy. This is a fact that leaves some of us feeling uncomfortable and a little out of control.

I remind myself, " You've been before, you are active...your body will recover" but in reality a part of my head is in constant struggle of the real fear of not "snapping back". As a trainer, with over 17 years of experience, I realize that much of it, has to do with the fact that so much of my identity is linked to my body and to what I do for a living...the intrusive thoughts of "who will I be, if I can't come back right away?!"

Maintaining a positive body image can be challenging. This is especially true when faced with the constant pressure to be a super-fit pregnant woman who bounces back to her pre-baby size as soon as possible.

If you are pregnant or postnatal mommy KNOW that you are NOT ALONE in feeling this way: talk to someone, connect with other moms, write your thoughts down. It is okay to feel conflicted, about your growing baby bump and the beauty of knowing that you are growing a new life.

I AM BLESSED BEYOND MEASURE! After over 2 years of not seeing my dad & 3 years of not coming home, I FINALLY MADE IT BACK. I don't think I realized just HOW much missed coming back to the motherland but more importantly I missed spending time with my siblings (who are my ride or die) and of course my daddy, who's my rock!
I am a daddy's little girl through and through (yes even at be my age)...he still calls me "bebè" ha and I love it. My dad's 85th Birthday was not only a milestone but we a miracle after a severe bout with Covid! My dad is a true survivor & by the grace of the Universe survived it at 84 yrs old!!! I LOVE YOU FAM! It's been AMAZING ❤️❤️❤️
