My E.T. Kuwahara built like the original ad for the bikes. Based on the 40th Anniversary edition, all the black parts were switched with gold. New wheels built with Race Inc hubs, SE rims, DT spokes and alloy ni***es. GT 3 piece cranks were added and actual vintage Dia Compe Tech 2 finger brake levers provide the stopping.
When you have a couple of cool bikes around, you can swap wheels and such and see “what if..?” Borrowed a set of Skyway Graphites off a PK Ripper and completely changed the whole attitude of this one!

Big wheel 29” Kuwahara KW-29 that got built and customized by Dave! Added the Box Three brakes and lever, the ODI Vans lock on grips, HT platform pedals, Neptune Flite style chainwheel, and some much taller SE Racing Pro bars! To keep the vintage look going the Kashimax Aero seat and MCS fluted post in gold were added as well.

Handlebars and forks done, waiting for the frame to be finished and then I’ll let the cat outta the bag! Can’t even begin to put into words how excited I am about this project!!

When the Retro bike you really want isn’t made anywhere…. You build it yourself! (Or hire a very established frame builder to do it!)
Don’t wanna give too much away just yet, but it’s gonna be a modern version of a classic! Threadless stem/fork, European bottom bracket, V-brakes, and oversized tubing. Top tube on this one is 22” c-c but if this one is received well, a second version with a 21 or 21.5” top tube could follow.
Could this be the start of a new BMX bike brand?

Angry Dave shows a few of his building tips to make your new bike really ride up to its optimum performance for you. Bike factories literally just put all the parts in the box for you. To REALLY build it, you wind up taking most of it back apart to grease and adjust.

It’s a lot of extra work but it makes a HUGE difference in how it rides and performs now and way down the road.

Follow along as I recreate my race bike from the early to mid 80’s with a LOT of the actual original parts from that bike! It was like being 14/15 years old again just looking at it….. but it rides EXACTLY like I remember!!
