It’s difficult to sum up 94 years of life in a couple of sentences but…
I was always struck by the sincerity of his compliments, which were endless. No one was beneath his notice and he had a gift for making people feel appreciated. It made the most casual experiences special. Every meal I ever cooked him was legendary.
He loved to laugh. I’ll hear that sound in my memories forever.
His generosity knew no bounds. You could not get a sentence finished before he was offering to help. Mostly though he was generous with his time, which was a greater gift than any other.
He loved family. The joy he took from his family, whether it was their accomplishments or simply their presence, is something I will never forget.
I was fortunate to have some time alone with him a few days before he died. We both knew it would be soon. I thanked him for his many kindnesses over the years. He told me how great my kids are. And complimented me on the great burger I’d just made him. There you have it. Rest in peace LeoBob.
