ACCOUNTABILITY is one of the MAIN reasons people need a trainer. Having someone who is knowledgeable & motivating is a game changer when it comes to achieving your goals!

However, If you cannot afford a trainer & need that motivation to MOVE, try these:

- Find yourself a GYM BUDDY: you are less likely to blow off the gym if someone else is expecting you to be there!

- Start by setting achievable & realistic SHORT TERM GOALS: Most of the time we have already decided what our main goal will be, but it is fundamental for our psyche to win. Shoot for 3 days at the gym if your head is telling you 5, if you miss one day, you’re more likely to give up on the whole week than push through. This is especially the case for those returning to the gym after a long period of time. If you get 4 days in when you aimed for 3 you will automatically feel a sense of achievement & will seek to feel that again.

- PLAN • PLAN • PLAN: failure to plan is planning to fail. Decide what you are going to do at the gym BEFORE you get there! Knowing the muscle groups, exercises & time you need for your workout will not only help the workout run smoothly, but also allow you to truly focus on getting the best out of every minute!

It’s SHOUTOUT time again! Today’s highlighted client is Andy. He is a retired Army Vet who later joined the Air National Guard to continue his service, he also happens to be one of my longest standing clients. Andy began training with me in 2017 because he had an upcoming PT test and was not ready. Through training with The Alex Effect, Andy went from not being able to do a single push up, to maxing out his test in just a few months. He is a fun, dedicated & an all round nice guy! We always have a great time during our sessions no matter how tough!
Here are some facts about Andy!

1. Biggest accomplishment?: 'Since I started training with Alex I have achieved the maximum score on the strength portion of my National Guard fitness test every year. When I look back at some of our first workouts from three years ago it amazes me how far we’ve come with what I am capable of doing. '
2. Favourite tv show?: The Office/Parks & Rec/30 Rock
3. Favourite exercise?: Anything that lets me lay on the ground. Just kidding, either hanging knee raises (because I am amazed that I can do them) or bench press (because it’s one that is easiest to see the impact).
4. Favourite Alex quote?: “Last set, best set”
