Got this old SSK dimpled-palm glove from Drew in Georgia.
The leather on this guy was thirsty! Got it cleaned, conditioned, and laced in Chestnut lace from Flat Bill Baseball 🔥 — also got a palm pad and new thumb/pinky loops installed. Thanks for sending this one in!

They don’t get much older than this!

Steve sent me this from a few towns over in Massachusetts— a catcher’s mitt made in the 1890s, owned by his great-great uncle, Henry Arfoon. He encouraged me to Google Henry and when I did I learned about a fascinating man! The first person known to be born to Chinese immigrants in Boston; the first Chinese-American citizen to serve on a jury; a local sports icon who championed inclusion in baseball and cycling (to this day there is an annual local bike ride in his honor!)

Steve, thank you for sending in this incredible artifact of baseball history and sharing about your family!

Got this beautiful Wilson Sporting Goods A2000 from Colin in North Carolina — cleaned, conditioned, and relaced with some bright yellow lace from Flat Bill Baseball 😎🔥

Got this older Rawlings basket web in from Mike in Ohio — this one had some mysterious goo on the palm, but was otherwise in decent shape. We decided to dye the leather with some Saddle Tan to refresh it after years of fading (and to obscure the irreversible staining from the goo 😅). Black/Red two-toned lace from Flat Bill Baseball was a nice touch as well!

Bonus: In the background around the 1:52 mark you can hear the call from JD ‘s 11th inning grand slam against the Marlins last night 🔥

Got this beautiful vintage catcher’s mitt (this model was produced somewhere between 1945–1951) in from Javi in Miami. Javi has been in the game a long time, playing for Notre Dame Baseball in college, then later for the Minnesota Twins organization at the Minor League Baseball level; later on he coached for LSU Baseball . Javi, thanks for sending this in and trusting me to restore it!
