🎃Today may not be the 'Blizzard of '91' that we all brag about surviving, but the struggle is there for kids tonight. 🎃

Did we throw in the towel back then? Hell no, we did not. We got in our costumes, threw on all the layers, and went out and worked for what we had been looking forward to all month long.

Get out there tonight, do some trick or treating with your kids, and remind them as often as you can of the struggle that we endured.

We'll still have our 4pm, 4:15, and 4:30 classes tonight. After that, we'll be out jumping house to house supporting this holiday of kids collecting candy for us to pick through after they go to bed.

Four years ago today, I was involved in a horrific accident. My body and mind were wrecked. I didn't know how I was going to get through it, if I was going to get through it.

The doctors would tell me everything that I couldn't do. A switch flipped one day when I said to them "Okay. Now I know what I can't do, tell me all the things I am allowed to do." I would drill them with specifics on exactly what my limitations were.

No more than 10lbs - so PVC pipe is fine to lift with then? Got it, Ill work on form.
No running - I'll walk.
No jumping - I'll do step ups.
No working out - I'll stretch and work on range of motion.

Every single time, I would find something that I COULD do. That went on for 3 years and around 25 surgeries.

Yeah it sucked to not be what I once was. I forged on. I did what I could. Slowly I got stronger and faster. All of those little things I could do, built up to the big things that had been taken away.

LIFT and its members have been my sanctuary. I have healed more in this gym than anywhere else. It is my therapy and support system. Healing, love and hope are found within these walls. Laughter fills them daily.

Today is the hardest workout of the year. The Lugnut workout that I wrote in 2023. It's meant to push you physically and mentally. To go through something really hard and to come out of it with a feeling of accomplishment and pride.

Life isn't linear and sometimes you just have to put your head down and push through things to come out the other side stronger.

My deepest heartfelt thanks to all LIFTers and the community that helped me heal. Today I am stronger than I have ever been and I couldn't have done it alone. If you are going through something similar, there's a space for you here.
