Bike Lanes of DC.
Cyclists vs Cages.
Hypothetically speaking, a cyclist is speeding along in their bike lane approaching an intersection. Ahead of them, a car is slowing down. They don't notice the right turn blinker. since they're in the driver's blind spot. They turn right. The cyclist reacts by grabbing a handful of brake, turning right to avoid hitting the car. Their carbon fiber wheel collapses, the tubeless tire explodes and they find themselves on the pavement. The cyclist gets up quickly and pulls their bike to the curb. The driver is shaken thinking they hit the cyclist. The cyclist never hit the car. They crashed from their evasive maneuver. The cyclist is not injured and has a little dirt on their jacket and tights. The bike has a destroyed front wheel with a shifter bent towards the inside. The driver did not see the cyclist since he was behind the vehicle the whole time.
Who's at fault?
