Had the pleasure in June of riding down to Tacoma and back on the wizard from Deadliest Catch to pick up their tendering gear for the summer salmon season. We've been on the wizard many times as you might have seen in the past, but this was the first time I was able to accept their invite to go under way. I've got to say, it was a blast.

What we know these boats for mostly is their crabbing, but that's a pretty short season and many of them supplement in the summer by acting as shuttle boats between the smaller fishing boats and larger factory trawlers. Often for salmon but sometimes for other fish as well. As their method for storage is different for fish than crabs, a refrigeration style conex unit the refrigerate and chills the fish to keep them fresh on their short trip over to the processing boats. The Wizard along with many of the other boats you know, were for a larger processing company 'Trident', and store their equipment at the facility down in Tacoma.

Having watched these boots for decades on TV, it was great to finally get underway on one, go through the locks, and get to spend some time with Captain Keith and the rest of the crew. For the record, Captain Keith is an awesome guy despite the flack he gets on the show. Even got to run the lines on this historic WWII vessel so it was a pretty cool day. Hope you enjoy,

Keith invited me to head down with them to Tacoma for a day on the Wizard to grab their tendering gear from Trident. Unfortunately I couldn't make it last ye...

I was telling Captain Keith about some of the CNC work I'm doing at the Coast Guard base, and he told me I should make something for the boat, so here it is.

I did the design and machining, and then Devi did the fantastic final touches and line work. I think it turned out great.

Was great to finally get underway on Goran's immaculate 1956 Chris-Craft Connie 'Rialto' yesterday to serve as his deckhand through the locks and out to Shilshole in preparation for this weekends Chris-Craft Rendezous.
This first video is a timelapse of the passing, but in full 360, so feel free to look and pan around as you watch. I'll aslo post the edited video below. Still a timelapse, but no 360 and better quality resolution.

Cheers,

Well we've sold our Connie, but we can still ride with friends! Goran asked for help with his beautiful classic 'Rialto'. The day was perfect. Beautiful weat...

Last in the series! Unfortunately.....my camera battery died halfway through, but this is my lovely wife Rashree Devi Patram as part of the Women of Industrail Music panel at Mechanismus Festival: Defiance this week. She did amazing of course and had some great points to make that really resonated; of course her best ones I wan't able to captcher.

Such an honor to be able to see and be present to all of these amazing women and could not be prouder of my wife.
Mechanismus was also filming so when their footage is released, I'll see if I'm able to put out those clips.
Cheers,

Alright so unfortunately my camera died halfway thorough!!!!....argh, but this was an amazing panel to attend and so proud of my wife (in the white).

Could not be more proud of this lady. While my camera really did not like the lighting, this is from Negative Format's show two nights ago at the Mechanismus Festival: Defiance. This song, Sustain, is one of my favorites, but a very difficult one vocally and not one that Rashree was looking forward to! Not the greatest audio from my camera, but she nailed it. Such an amazing show.

Second show in two years! An amazing set by Negative Format. Unfortunately my camera was really not liking the lighting, but great to get it on film regardless.
