If you are a bad shooter and your form needs a major makeover, now would be a great time to do it. No one will be playing a game for weeks or maybe even months. Use this time to start close to the basket and make the proper adjustments. You could be a much improved player with an improved jumper when this virus passes. Mindset is a powerful thing. This virus has forced us to slow down a lot. I hope each of you are spending some time reflecting and looking ahead to what is most important for you. People don’t realize how much serendipity plays a part in our lives. We try and plan how things will plan out but it almost never goes according to “our” plan. In 1980 Hakeem landed at JFK and was supposed to visit St. John’s, he walked outside it was cold and walked right back inside. He never made the visit and flew to Houston instead. He redshirted, spent the summer working with Moses Malone and the rest is history. In 05 I was working just another basketball camp and met Jerry Powell. Meeting him changed my life from wanting to be a PE teacher and coach to having a life and career in basketball. During this time while most gyms are closing don’t just let this time pass. Watch film, do push-ups, run sprints. You could even take it the park. Stay safe, but continue to put the work in.

She was All Long Island, but still had zero offers from any D1 or D2 schools. I personally called numerous schools to tell them to take a look and still no interest. Her confidence was shaken but she just worked harder. Now those same schools are calling but she has other options. The work doesn’t lie, don’t get discouraged if others don’t see it yet. Let your work fuel your confidence and let your game do the talking.
