Today we are highlighting one of our recent alumni, Joshua Dick. He was a part of the Sooner Racing Team from 2021-2026. Joshua graduated OU with an accelerated master’s degree in electrical engineering and is currently a graduate fellow at the National Nuclear Security Administration.

Sooner Racing Team, Est. 1994

Today’s trip down memory lane takes us back to where it all started. In 1994 Professor Bill Patten recruited a group of engineering students who designed, built, and raced the first Sooner powered FSAE car for competition in Spring of 1995. From then on, the Sooner Racing Team has continued to compete for over 30 years!

🏎️Sooner Racing Team Michigan 2026🏎️

As the 2025-2025 season comes to an end, we want to start by extending a massive thank you to all of our sponsors, alumni, friends, and families. Your support and belief in our team are what kept our wheels turning and made the entire year possible.

Competition week was full of adrenaline, memories, and lessons. While we weren’t able to participate in the endurance test, our car was able to pass technical inspection on the first try with our brand new ETC system, and compete in more dynamic events than last year.

We are proud of what we were able to accomplish this year and are looking forward to next year!
